This is a lovely hotel. We have visited on a few occasions over the last few years and have never been disappointed. The fact we keep going back is testimony to how comfortable and welcome guests arre made to feel. The staff are friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. Bedrooms are in various stages of refurbishment, but the realistic pricing reflects this. Public rooms are very well decorated. The restaurant offers a varied menu, and food is well cooked and beautifully served. It is obviously a popular haunt with locals which reflects quality and value for money.

I selected the Taychreggan using the "travellers forumla" of location, TA rating and price (the TA map view is grea). As Dundee seems to lack consistently good hotels, however the Taychreggan seems to get consisten reviews.

The best thing about the Taychreggan is the friendly attentive staff, my room was a small double with just a a shower in the bathroom, everything was clean and very well presented (tea making available).

The evening resturant menu is excellent, as is brekfast.

Pros
- Excellent value
- Clean
- Excellent food
- Free wifi
- Free parking
- Quiet

Cons
- None really if you factor the value

we found this hotel on the TA website as "great hotels in Dundee".... we were just using it as a stop over on our way to a family wedding.... but what a little gem we found! The welcome we got from the moment we stepped thru the door on a wet Thursday pm was spectacular! The room was comfy, spacious, clean and a lovely tea tray! The meal is 3star and well deserved, the waitresses are so helpful and chatty but not matched by the wonderful bar staff.... we were lucky enough to have Frasier and Stephen (the assist' manager) who knew every whisky in the bar and spent all evening reccomending our next tipple! it was fantastic!!
Breakfast was great, lovely local produce with a good range of cereals and juices....
Every member of staff fell over themselves to be friendly and helpful without being pushy or in your face all the time.... it truly felt like we were having drinks with friends....
cant wait to come back for a longer visit!

Visiting Dundee for 1 night on a business trip I was looking for a cheap Hotel close to the Michelin Factory.

The Traychreggan turned out to be a great choice. Friendly, welcoming, efficient staff on check in. A nice room with on suite shower. Fantastic evening meal including the most delicious Scottish cheese with port.

The hotel is in a lovely quite area and I enjoyed a very pleasant walk to the shore of the river Tay to burn off the cheese after my evening meal.

Finally I met the owner on checkout (after a fantastic hearty Scottish Breakfast) who was very pleasant and even offered to drive me himself up the road to the Michelin Factory!! (I declined and walked)

I found the Taychreggan using laterooms.com but got a cheaper price booking directly with the hotel.

A lovely stay in a family run hotel, with great food, great service and all for less than a Premier Inn.

In Dundee, a city of considerable charm and natural beauty but a shortage of decent hotels, the Taychreggan is a hidden gem. It occupies a grand, former mill-owner's hpuse in the residential suburb of Broughty Ferry, and sits in delightful, immaculately kept grounds in an elevated position with sweeping views of the Tay estuary.
We have stayed here twice and eaten on numerous occasions, including several enjoyable lunches with my 92-year-old aunt.
Our room was newly refurbished and quite splendid: large, comfortable, with en-suite bathroom/shower and a separate dressing-room. On our last evening our daughter and her two children joined us. Thery were given an excellent family suite with bathroom, a king-size bed and a second room with bunk beds.
There was no noise, standards of cleaning and housekeeping in bedrooms and public areas were of the highest, and breakfasts were copious in the best Scottish tradition! - although there was also ample choice for those with smaller appetites.
There is a popular restaurant offereing an extensive lunch-time and evening menu, with a pleasant adjoining bar area for pre- and post-dinner drinks. There are also tables and chairs outside on the patio and lawn. There is adequate parking in the private car parks to the side and rear of the hotel.
This is a privately owned, family-run establishment with high standards and a team of very attentive and obliging staff. Highly recommended!

A well positioned, friendly and professional hotel and restaurant. Superbly located on the edge of Dundee, this impressive family run hotel is impeccably presented both in the gardens, public rooms and the guests rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful always willing to give advice or have a chat about the day ahead.
The bar has an impressive stock of wines and whiskeys which the staff and particularly the manager have a very detailed knowledge and are more than happy to pass on. The food in the restaurant was outstanding with a menu to suit all palates.
All in all a fantastic hotel which I would recommend to anyone. Fabulous location, friendly helpful staff and supurb food and drink at an excellent price.
