“Reasonable dinner”
Reviewed March 12, 2012

We ate here during the week and for the price the meal is reasonable value. However on this occassion and previously we feel there is a great lack of staff training and no one to oversee the running of the dining room. Staff were pleasant but just a lack of efficiency in the service.

Room Tip: We only ate in this hotel

We came in for dinner on Valentine's Day and everything was superb!
The food was great - very well presented and tasted fantastic.
We had a couple of cocktails which was a nice change for us.
All in all it was a fantastic evening and we a re looking forward to returning soon.
Thanks Taychreggan

Like many older establishments of this type, the hotel has clearly seen better days but still has enormous potential if sufficient investment can be made. In it's current guise however it falls well short of what might be reasonably expected from a modern hotel and I would only be able to place it at best at B&B standard. Despite what the hotel states about the quality of it's food it failed to deliver for me and is definitely not for the discerning.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the Tay is desirable

The hotel has recently undergone a change of ownership and is undergoing a phased programme of upgrades throughout the hotel. The 1st phase has been completed and we are very pleased with the results to date.

Lovely place downstairs, very nice restaurant with lovely food- in particular the duck and panna cotta with pink peppercorn tuille and spiced fruit. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was lovely. Room was clean and nice. Room was very cold and the walls were very thin so we could hear other guests snoring. The appliances including the radiator, phone and TV were all very dated which made it feel more like a b&b than a hotel- however, it would make for an excellent b&b. We got a good deal on this hotel- 2 nights for £89 which was ideal. I would return to this hotel but only if we got another similar deal, I don't think it would be worth the full rate but very pleasant stay neverthless.

Just spent two nights in a twin bedded room with my elderly aunt. Can fully recommend; the bar is amazing and must be a whiskey lovers paradise.

High level of staff commitment to guests and the friendlinest hotel I think I;ve ever stayed in.

If they are serving high tea when you visit then its well worth having.

Room Tip: Room 5 has stunning views of the garden and the 'Ferry'
