“Superb location”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

I booked for three nights at the Premier Inn and was more than surprised when I saw my room. It had all the facilities that you would expect and the decor was was lovely. There was the usual kettle, tea, coffee etc, two chairs, desk, fan and hairdryer. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and clean. Similarly the bathroom was clean with soap dispensers by the bath and sink so none of the small bottles that you may expect. The towels were changed daily as was the cleaning etc. There are a few things missing, the shaver plug in the bathroom, an iron and a phone to call reception. However, for a short stay that doesn't prove too problematic. The rooms at the back of the hotel boast lovely views over the River Tay and across to Newport on Tay. Attached to the hotel is lovely pub/restaurant and the staff are very nice. You also get 30mins of free wifi, just enough time to check your emails. The food is good and on the first evening I had 3 courses for £11.99; there is also an option of 2 courses for £9.99. I found the staff friendly and efficient and the quality of service was generally good. I found the facility of restaurant and pub very convenient as there are outside tables looking onto the river. The location is excellent, central to transport links. The staff were more than helpful and overall I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and comfort that I experienced. I would definitely recommend this Premier Inn if you want a central location, friendly and helpful reception staff and friendly pub staff.

Room Tip: The back rooms overlook the River Tay.

My Wife and I have just had 4 lovely nights in this hotel in Dundee from 18/07/13, this is a nice hotel in a great location right by the River Tay and close by is the Train Station across the road the airport is a 5 minute drive so was handy for us, the centre of Dundee is on your door step and everything is walking distance so that was a plus. The hotel we used for Breakfast which was ok could have done with more staff in the morning only one waitress on so had to wait for breakfast if you wanted a full breakfast which was good apart from the Poached eggs for some reason they could not do this right and the yolk was always hard, that is the one and only moan we had as the rest of this hotel and staff where very good always there to answer your questions, the room was big and very comfy, for some Reason Dundee had a heat wave and you could tell as air condition was not really there in the hotel but this did not affect our sleep, would we use this hotel again if we where in Dundee absolutely without a doubt a good hotel with good people

Can't really get any closer to the city centre at these prices. If you're reasonably fit you can walk to the city centre in less than 5 minutes. Add to that you're right on top of a major tourist attraction - The good ship Discovery.
The hotel sits right on the banks of the River Tay between the two bridges and immediately opposite the train station and the airport is a five minute walk. Transport just isn't an issue.
Neither is noise. I stayed in a river view room and never heard anything of the traffic at all.
The attached restaurant serves good food with a wide choice (as you might suspect if you've used Premier Inn before).
Used it before and I'll use it again. Can't give it a better reference than that.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room on the uppper floor.

Stayed 3 nights recently as part of Golfing Weekend The Hotel was more than upto the Premier Inn Standards. The rooms wrere well prepared and tidied each day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Restaurant adjacent provided very good Menu and quality. Situated near the famous ship the Discovery made it even better. Well Done Premier In keep it up.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking River are best

We stayed here for three nights this past May and were very happy with our choice. The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Our room overlooked the Tay, The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. I had a problem with the internet time I'd purchased but the young fellow on the front desk really helped me out.

We had the continental breakfast each morning and thought the selection was very good. Lots of cereals to pick from, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juices, milk, bread, muffins, coffee, tea, etc.

My only complaint would be that there was only 30 minutes of free wifi. Not really a big deal, but we had been traveling for approximately 6 weeks and liked to keep in touch with home. After the 30 minutes was up, you could purchase additional time. If I remember correctly, it was three pounds for 24 hours, which was really quite reasonable but all the other hotels we stayed at offered free wifi for the whole time we were there. I later found out that all Premier Inns were the same regarding the free wifi.

We thought the location of this hotel was good and very close to Dundee City Centre but there is a lot of construction going on right now. Tesco was only a few minutes walk and it was handy for picking up odds and ends.

We thought the price we paid for the three nights we stayed (booked well in advance) was excellent however we found the fourth night (a Wednesday ), the price really jumped for some reason. We still needed a room in Dundee for another two nights so we booked a different hotel for Wednesday and Thursday nights. Not sure why the price jumped so much for a Wednesday and Thursday nights? I could understand if it was the weekend.

On the whole, we really enjoyed our stay at the Premier Inn Dundee Centre and would recommend .
