“Lovely stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2014

The Hotel was beautiful, newly opened. We stayed on a 'secret escapes' deal and everything from start to finish was super. The room was a bit warm but there is air conditioning in the room which really helped.

We ate out in the evening and the breakfast next morning was lovely. I had the continental breakfast which was part of the deal, the girl serving us explained thar cheeses and meats were also available on request. For £2 we were told we could upgrade to a full mal breakfast, which my husband did. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We live in Dundee so we were looking for an excuse to stay at the new Malmaison so we decided to stay over for my birthday. We popped into the hotel to view some rooms and were shown a variety but we decided to pay extra for a fabulous suite, well worth it. The room is big and spacious with comfy bed. Next to it is a small lounge with circular day bed, both rooms had 50 inch tv's. The bathroom is by far one of the nicest we have ever seen, big and spacious, twin sinks, twin showers and roll top bath. We had family and friends stay over on the same evening and all commented on how lovely their rooms were.
We had dinner in the Brasserie which has a lovely atmosphere, we have eaten in the brasserie on many occasions since the hotels opening so we knew what to expect. The food and staff were excellent. We have seen some new faces in the staffing but everyone was friendly and helpful and helped make our stay special.
I hope we don't have to wait until next year for an excuse to stay over again.
Good luck to Josie and her team.

Room Tip: Suites are stunning if you can afford upgrade. City view rooms are just as nice as river view rooms...

Booked for Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant together with 4 friends.
Absolutely brilliant - the roast beef was first class (extra gravy came without asking) and the idea of a buffet help yourself first course was unusual but very good (I had an omelette fresh from the chef`s table) Crepe Suzette for pudding as well - all in the price. If you are in the area do give it a try. Hotel is newly opened and will go from strength to strength - all the staff were cheerful, charming and very helpful.

Stayed here on Saturday and must admit was hesitant having read some of the previous reviews. Thankfully we had no worries as soon as we arrived the receptionist made us very welcome and although we were early that was not a problem our rooms were ready.
Rooms were fine they were hot but this was not an issue after opening windows and using air con room temperature was fine.
The beds were great so comfortable we all had a fab sleep shower was also good very powerful and the temperature was fine.
Love the newly designed toiletries certainly different from previous mal ones and smelt great
Every staff member that we met was extremely friendly whilst at dinner the waiter was great and was able to advise us on choices
Food was well presented and tasted fine no complaints
Bit of a delay getting a drink for one of our party
We then went to bar and had cocktails staff once again extremely helpful couldn't do enough for us even suggested new cocktails and places to go afterwards
Breakfast was alright disappointed to only see 2 choices of cereal! Also didn't see any ham or cheese surprised at this as having stayed at other mals there was no issue with choice
All said we thoroughly enjoyed our stay well done guys it was good to tell you that on our departure I'm sure we will be back and will spread the word

Such a fantastic hotel!! The best Malmaison we have visited to date...Everything was top notch! Our room was out of this world...River views, the comfiest bed we have ever slept in, a roll top bath, and a bottle of chilled wine awaiting our arrival!!
For dinner, we ate in the Brasserie downstairs, the atmosphere and food was great. The staff throughout our stay were thoughtful and attentive - We hope to have an excuse to return!!

Room Tip: We splashed out, and stayed in the suite - A must as a treat!!

stayed recently on a secret escapes deal with my wife and child, the staff were really accommodating and helpful.
The food in the Brasserie is so good I'd go back for that alone but all in all really enjoyed our stay and would without doubt go back again, the young girl on reception was very helpful on telling us where to go for the day and we had a really nice day!
thanks for the great service guys!

My fiancée had booked a 1 night stay here and we were both looking forward to it, it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

When we arrived in our room it was extremely hot. The aircon wouldn't work as the panel had a message saying the filter needed cleared. We opened the window which seemed to help cool the room but made it very difficult to get ready as the sun was hitting the mirror directly, we couldn't close the curtains as the lighting is quite dim in the rooms.

We were supposed to have 2 glasses of complementary champagne with the package we booked. I called reception from our room (as I was advised to do when ordering the champagne) but the receptionist seemed flustered when I asked, it never arrived.

We had gone elsewhere for our evening meal and wanted to have a cocktail in the hotel bar when we got back. My student ID which has my date of birth and photo was rejected by the bar staff, at that point my fiancée was quite frustrated and said the hotel was a 'shambles'. He had to walk a mile to his car (no car parking on site) and got my driving licence and passport and when he returned we were told by the bar staff to "get out". I have never been so embarrassed. We returned to our room after that.

As the window had to be left open it was impossible to sleep due to the noise levels of the bars joined onto the hotel, this didn't stop until 2am.

The decor of the hotel is the only thing I liked.

I wish I hadn't stayed here as we were treated pieces of dirt. We will definitely not be returning.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere
