The castle has much of interest in local history, it isn't a huge place so won't take that long to visit - but it is free. Have a look you won't be disappointed.

Broughty beach is always somewhere I have visited, but on a dull day I took a detour here. if you consider that its FREE. its a great wee visit, each level has a different theme, and its worth going to the top for the view and the grounds are great for a picnic site.

Decided to have a wander around a few Historic Scotland sites on a sunny but windy day. First time I had visited Broughty Castle. Building is fascinating. Artefacts interesting. Views from the castle are stunning even on a cold windy day. Something of interest for all age groups.

I live in Dundee and it's years since I've visited Broughty Castle, remembering a draughty building with rather dull and dusty cases of cannon balls and lead shot. Decided to visit this weekend past and was thrilled with what I found. Although the wind was blowing a hooley outside, the museum is warm and bright. There are sections on local history and natural history with concise explanatory notices all housed in this iconic building. Definitely worth a visit.

Don't waste your time with the stuff animal or gun collection but the old-Broughty Ferry photographs they have on display are really fascinating-- as is the view from the top. This place also figures in the children's novel "Time at the Abbey" in rather unexpected fashion-- it also combines to lovely afternoon with the nearby playpark and- obviously- the beach.
