“Nice hotel in good location”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

We stayed for 1 night en route further North. Hotel is in a good location, rooms are big and modern. We didn't eat in the restaurant but ordered room service and the food was of a really good standard. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

A great hote, in a very central positionl with very professional staff. Rooms are spacious, modernly decorated and very clean, bathrooms offer a bath and seperate shower, quality toiletries and beautifully white fluffy towels. Our room on the fifth floor had great views of Dundee. There is also a gym, pool and spa.
Breakfast was one of the best "Scottish breakfasts " I've tasted, and offered plenty of choice.
Dinner , again was excellent, and with a super choice.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, and will certainly return.

Room Tip: Ask for the fifth floor for excellent views.

This Hogmanay we were planned to have a night out in Edinburgh, but our friend left things to late and getting a booking for what we wanted was out of the question. So we got desperate, our friend came to us and said there was 6 places left for the Hogmanay ball in the Apex. reluctantly we decided to go. What a great night we had, the food excelled itself. We were at a ball at the oId Course St Andrews a couple of weeks before, and the food was terrible. The food in the Apex surpassed the old course. There was Scottish music, then a disco. We had a fantastic night. Thanks to all the staff on the night at the Apex.

Love this place! Room was huge, we paid for an upgrade well worth it! All the staff are so helpful nothing was too much bother. Yu spa is great fun, we took our 2 boys (never again!) they both got a free dvd to watch in the room, so with popcorn and crisps and sweets we had a cinema night together. I would not recommend bringing children though as we would have had far more fun as adults only. It is an expensive hotel but you feel special staying there and that makes the money spent feel worth while. Buffet breakfast is well worth paying for as there is a great selection of hot and cold food on offer and even my very fussy kids ate well every morning! Room was cleaned to a very high standard. My only niggle and it is just a little niggle is the upgrade included a selection of savoury and sweet snacks. On the first night there was 2 small tins of pringles and 2 small bags of jelly babies between 4? The next day we were given 1 small tin of pringles and 1 packet of jelly beans between 4? Were we supposed to fight over it? The staff have obviously not met my family before! Anyway had a fantastic time and I will be going back when I can afford it, for more fun and luxury :)

Room Tip: If you can upgrade I would do it!

My partner and I have stayed here overnight and also dined on separate occasions having since moved to the city.

Our view was as bad as the look of the hotel but the room was very comfortable.
The food brought by room service was excellent however the waiter forgot a bottle opener and never returned with one so we had to phone reception and one was brought promptly.

No rush to leave in the morning. We never left until 12 p.m.

On an other occasion 3 of us wined and dinned there. The food and wine were faultless. Absolute perfection. We all left happy, full and grateful.
More out of pocket than I'd have hoped but it was a special occasion.

Room Tip: Just bear in mind you are neither there to look at the building or see the view from your room.

Typical chain hotel but what makes it are the staff. Rooms nice and well soundproofed, lovely spa and great people. All staff in every area of the hotel were very friendly and attentive would certainly come back when visiting the city.

Booked a room last minute as a last minute post Christmas treat.
Upgrade wasn't available but we did get a Quay facing room instead and a £10 voucher.
Out City double room was lovely, clean and spacious.
Used the spa facilities and was very impressed! The showers are better than the ones in the room. The hot tubs are excellent!
Had cocktails in the bar which were great and the service was good- did see most other tables receive a bowl of crisps though, we didn't.
Ordered room service for dinner. Service was quick and efficient. The burger meal was tasty enough- missing the cheese it was supposed to come with though- it did specify it would come with applewood cheddar! The same with the lamb burger- missing the cheese! Paid extra for sides- wish we hadn't bothered, the roasted root vegetables were pathetic! For £2.95 a tiny bowl of 2-3 carrot pieces and burnt onion and 2 bits of turnip! Also disappointed with my extra coleslaw- literally a small tablespoon full! Despite this is was tasty enough and was finished!
Love the luxury toiletries in the room and the tea tray selection.
Didn't sample breakfast.
Slept very well in the bed, very comfy!
Will return to this hotel!
