Dear philipm1381,

Thanks for reviewing your stay on trip advisor and I was sorry to hear that you were uncomfortable in your room due to the temperature. All of our rooms have a controlling panel for air flow along with windows, and we are looking at the feasibility of installing air conditioning.

Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Kind Regards,
Stuart Grant - General Manager

Stayed in Dundee because everywhere half decent in St Andrews seemed to be full (didn't want to spend £300 per night!). Hotel is a few mins walk from centre of Dundee, next to an area that is undergoing major redevelopment. Interior is comfortable, room and bathroom were both good - although the unrequested upgrade probably colours this opinion.

Fiance was keen to spend time in the pool area, which ultimately was rather disappointing. In particular the pool itself was cold - can only guess it's intended to cool off after you've been in the sauna. Sauna had pop music playing inside - just seemed to create the wrong atmosphere in a place like a sauna which should be more mellow. Steam room was fine, if unadventurous. Hot tub / jacuzzi were OK if a bit chemical. Felt rather odd, being in bathing suit in hot tub, while seeing people walking by on the street only 10 feet away !
Following morning however, fiance went for massage in the spa area which she reckons was fantastic.

On Saturday evening, we were thinking about eating in the restaurant, but the menu just looked to be rather ordinary - seemed to try to cater to all people and be inoffensive, rather than have any particular style or flair. Having said that, the restaurant was fairly full, but the people eating might have been part of the wedding party we saw. Looked in the restaurant again the following morning for breakfast, but didn't fancy going for the food that was fry-up centric.

That said, it's probably one of the best places to stay in Dundee, but the hotel doesn't really seem to know who it's core market is at the weekend (it didn't seem full). Fine as a business hotel, but not really a romantic place to go.

Room Tip: Rooms with a quay view are nice, but not worth paying a lot extra for.

Dear pmbma,

Thank you for your review. I was very disappointed to read that your stay did not live up to your expectations for a number of reasons. I have shared your comments with my team to ensure we take this opportunity to make improvements where required. I do hope that you can see from our many positive comments on this site many of whoom are couples that the level of service you received is not indicative of the usual high standards we offer our customers.

On a positive note I was pleased to read that your Fiance had a fantastic massage. Should you wish to discuss your comments further with me then please do not hesitate to contact me directly at Stuart.Grant@apexhotels.co.uk

My wife and I stayed for one night in the Apex Quay Hotel at Dundee.
Our room was very comfortable. The hotel facilities were good and the food was satisfactory. The staff were excellent and made a genuine and successful attempt to look after their customers well.

Had a girly weekend away with sisters. Great hotel-shops etc a short walk away. Our double double room was fantastic with a harbour view of Unicorn. We ate in hotel three times and food was of a very high standard. Two course lunch for under £10 was excellent value and similar special dinner deal was available in evenings.
The spa has good sized pool/hot tubs/steam room/gym and was spotlessly clean.we didn't try treatments but a good selection of massages etc were available.
The best thing about the hotel was the staff. I've stayed in many hotels but the Apex staff were exceptional from the cleaner who was lovely and friendly, the reception staff who offered us a complimentary drink as we arrived early and our room was in process of being cleaned, restaurant staff who were happy to mix and match with menu choices. Apex management- the staff at this hotel are a credit to you. If you have a staff bonus scheme just send it to Dundee!! We will definitely be back.

I have not had the best of years this year so for my Birthday this year I decided to take a weekend away in Dundee to unwind. Living in Aberdeen it is just a short drive away and despite what people think Dundee will always hold a special place in mine and my wives thoughts as our daughter was born there 2 years ago. Having read the reviews on here and visiting the very plush website we decided on the Apex City Quay Hotel and Spa. Working in the Marine Industry I am a massive fan of any establsihment which offers a view of a waterfront and this hotel did not disappoint! To be honest I or my Wife could not fault anything with this Hotel, the Staff, the Decor, the Atmopshere, The Room, everything was brilliant and we will definitley be coming back here when we visit Dundee again! For those who turn their noses up at Dundee they are sadly mistaken because this Hotel is fanastic, as iis the Wharf around it. A lot of Money is being spent to modernise Dundee and they are doing a great job so far.......

Dear Barry S,

Many happy belated retuns, and I was delighted to read that you had a wonderful time with us. Dundee is certainly changing and has lots to offer and with a £1 Billion investment programme under way is certainly a destianation to book.

Thanks again, and hope to see you for your next birthday, if not before.

We booked the day before as we had had enough of this rain , we were very impressed with the staff, the hotel was very clean , the bedroom and bathroom were spotless, especially the bathroom , for a budget hotel and the price we paid anyone who complains must very picky,
From the very friendly staff to the quality and quantity of dinner and breakfast , there was nothing to complain about , only to compliment .

Dear Hairy48

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us and I was pleased to read that you had a very enjoyable time with us. Just to let you know that the Apex Dundee is not a budget hotel / brand, even though we have had some cracking offers on over the Summer period adding value to the over all experience.

Thanks again, and hope to see you soon.
