“Good all round cafe”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

I probably wouldn't come here if I was on my own (big too 'girly?') but it's a good place to meet friends. It can get a bit busy with kids but there are different rooms now so if you're lucky, you don't necessarily have to be in a room with them. Staff mostly friendly and menu very varied. Cakes hit or miss but mostly hit. Coffee ok most of the time. Would recommend.

“Afternoon tea a major disappointment”
Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

Went for afternoon tea and got more cakes than it is possible to eat and just two tiny triangles of sandwich each. Badly imbalanced and i was left very hungry. Other people's lunches looked quite appetising but I was very disappointed

“Lovely little restaurant”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Great little restaurant with at least 3 different little rooms to dine in.
The place is fantastic for families and has a little room with a toy cupboard full of traditional little wooden toys and games to keep kids amused.
Great decor and view and the staff are particularly helpful and friendly.
It is part of a little garden centre which is also well worth a visit.
It can be a bit chaotic as it is so popular with families, but the staff somehow seem to keep calm and friendly amongst the chaos.
It is slightly pricey, but the food, service and surroundings make up for it

“A joy in Broughty Ferry.”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

This cafe is a joy. It's part of an independent, family run garden nursery - a good enough reason to visit for a selection of plants and shrubs but now they have added Jessie's Kitchen. They serve up really interesting and flavoursome soups, a selection of sandwiches, baked tatties and amazing tray bakes. It all sounds very predictable, but the standard of food, the quality of ingredients and wonderful touches makes this place very special. On first viewing the menu for sandwiches seemed slightly over priced but they come with a substantial salad which was more than the run of the mill pile of non descriptor leaves and chutney which looked and tasted home made.

When I visited I had a sweet potato, spinach and apple soup and mackerel pate with home made oatcakes. Lovely selection of teas and coffees. I was very happy. The surroundings are bright and airy and you have a wonderful view over the River Tay.

Lovely place for lunch.
