We made our annual trip to R.R.S. Discovery today as we got married on the top deck six years ago. Every year there is something new to see and we also read something we've missed on previous visits. The ship is in amazing condition and it's hard to believe it's so old and has been to the Ant-Arctic several. I really like the cafe here as there's always some sort of art exhibition on soooooo it's constantly changing. Can't wait to visit again next year #

An interesting afternoon out. Amazing to find your are standing on the actual ship that went to the South Pole. Very educational.

My family and I all really enjoyed our trip to the Discovery in Dundee. The exhibition itself was fascinating - although some (younger) members of the family thoguht there was too much to read as they went round, everyone else valued the fact that they could find out all the various aspects of the ship from it being built, to its expedition to the Antarctic, to the work it was put to afterwards. Perhaps though although there is alot for children, there exhibition could cater more for a teenage audience.
Touring the ship itself was the highlight - especially being able to see where the men lived and slept and what the officer's dining room was like.
The customer service of all the staff we spoke to was excellent - espeically the young man at the tourist information desk.
All in all we would recommend this as a visitor attraction for all ages.

First impressions were really good, with a modern visitors centre and shop.A clearly marked and laid out self guided tour was easy to navigate and had plenty exhibits and information including some interactive ones. The ship itself was beautifully presented and pretty much most of the vessel was made available for you to explore unhindered. The ship also had some friendly, knowledgable guides on board who also gave suggestions on other places to visit. The ship was very atmospheric onboard and very interesting and every effort has been made to make it informative.Prices were good value when you consider that the ship will have hefty ongoing upkeep costs.I would recommend this is a great place to visit and hope to return in the future.

I am on a trip around the UK using a rail rover ticket and one of my objectives is to travel over the Tay railway bridge and visit this ship. The Discovery is the ship that took Captain Scot to the Antarctic for the first time. Though it has been much modified since it was still worth a visit and the accompanying exhibition and films set the ship and the expedition in context. Extraordinary to find that wooden ships were still being built in 1901 for Antarctic exploration since wooden hulled vessels could withstand the crush of ice better.
