Enjoyed our steak meal that was a Groupon deal very much. The sauces we chose with our steaks were lovely. Plenty of chips a nice salad & creamy coleslaw accompanied our large steaks. The waitress was friendly & cheery. Good music was being played while we ate. Would recommend as great value.

First visit for lunch on recommendation from colleague. Decor is not inspiring and barmaid rather dour - not a great first impression. However the food was indeed good. I had steak pie which was delicious. It had a proper crust with the "soggy bit" under the puff pastry - not the ghastly lid added separately which disintegrates into a thousand pieces as soon as you touch it. Good variety of veg - particularly liked the mashed neep - very peppery - and all still "crispy". New potatoes were tasty. My friend had macaroni cheese and found it really cheesy - mouthwatering was the decription. Salad was crispy and fresh as were the chips. Anyone looking for tasty well cooked pub grub / comfort food at reasonble prices should give this pub a try.
Drink prices - particularly for a town centre pub were good. Glass of decent wine £2.60 (175ml) - a bottle £9.60.
I would recomend.

In this handy pub ( near Hilton as well as Trades bar) on 2 nights and there was a live band playing on both nights. Both bands were cover bands but played different kinds of modern music and both good with Cherry Bomb particularly impressive...who else uses a wind machine for their front singer?
Istanbule Kebab shop is 25 yards away for when pub closes...Mexicano Pizza better than the Kebabs

Been kind of a local for me over the years. It's an excellent pub and very busy at weekends when live bands are on. Snow patrol were formed here.
