“Decent Hotel - Good Location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

Stayed here for one night as we were attending the Dundee Tattoo Convention. Hotel was easy to find with ample car parking space to the rear. Hotel is well located on the Nethergate, so all bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance. Hotel is very impressive from the outside, however a little dated on the inside. The restaurant is called Nosey Parkers. We didn't eat here as the decor again was a tad tired and, to be honest, the name really didn't match the grandness of the outside of the hotel. Room was OK. We were in an attic type room, so the outside wall sloped in giving a slightly claustrophobic feel to the room. Bed was far too soft to the point we were both shaped liked bananas lying on it.

Check out was terrible. Waited 20 minutes for someone to attend reception. As we were checking out at the required time I found this strange and the fact no apology was offered just annoyed me. Another couple got fed up waiting and just chucked their keys on the desk and said to me 'well they've got our card details, so they can just bill us'.

Would I stay here again? Perhaps. the location was good, but i think I would be inclined to try elsewhere first.

Only 1 night stay at this very central Dundee hotel. Off street parking neatly behind the hotel, sharp left before the building, missed it first time!
My room was on the 3rd floor facing the street and it was well decorated with a king size bed and large ensuite bathroom.
Free WiFi and best of a two packets of shortbread with the normal instant coffee.

The Nosey Parker's restaurant was very busy with local people coming and going, my meal was very tasty and obviously cooked and not just reheated.

I had a great nights sleep even though I realised the room wasn't quite level, however from the age of the building I'm sure things have moved over the years, but it made the room feel more real!

I had an included cooked breakfast in the morning and that was served, not buffet style, which was a very pleasant change and very well prepared.

I will definitely stay here again if visiting Dundee.

First up, I should start by saying I never stayed here, but attended an event. I did however see inside one of the bedrooms (long story!) and was impressed. Anyway, I had a three course meal here before the event in question, and the food was delicious. The main course was sausage and mash but the portion size was perfect for a cold night and deffo lined my stomach to be able to drink lol. The event was downstairs in a lounge bar bit, was very good and was impressed with the bar prices (£1.75 for a half pint of fosters, get in!). The staff were very friendly and I would have no hesitiation staying if prices were cheaper.

We were looking for a hotel close to Dundee Rep where we were going to see a play. This hotel could not be better placed! It's also only a short walk from the city centre so shopping was very easy. It has great free parking for hotel patrons and a full breakfast was included in the very reasonable price. The room was a good size, and it and the bathroom were spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant before the play - had the Pre Theatre dinner. This again was very good value with well presented and tasty food. A couple of the staff in the evening could have done with some customer relations training but the breakfast time staff were very friendly and efficient.

Hotel is easy to find and there is parking on site which is a bonus this is also free if you are a patron. It is just a couple of minutes walk into the town centre. Check in very easy. Rooms of good size and bathroom also very good. Staff were all very helpful. Breakfast was what you expect for a hotel, disappointed that there was no haggis. Down side was the drinks prices in the bar at £3.50 for a pint of electric beer when you can go into town and buy a pint of cask ale at a well known pub chain for £1.94.

Stayed here for two nights with work.

The location is very busy with students and some great boutiques across the road.

Rooms great and spacious, beds and pillows are comfy.

We ate here on the first night and the menu is a bit expensive for the area however the presention of the food was good. Food was a little over cooked it was like it sat in the hot plate.
Breakfast was a little stressed, no real system in place. Took ages for the staff to take our order and wasn't a friendly atmosphere and you were scared to ask for a refills of drinks. My first impressions was that it was the manager filling in however the second morning was just as bad. A little disappointing.

We stayed for a private function and we loved it. Most of the staff were lovely and could not help you enough. Only one or two of the younger staff let them down with there attitude. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Just wished you could get the same meals in the restaurant as you could on room service.
