Stayed here the night prior to my operation at fernbrae hospital, it was very comfortable and clean and my hubby raved about the food (I didn't have any due to fasting!) would definitely go back to this hotel. The only down side was the distance we had to walk with luggage but we are young and fit so not really a moan. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the room was at the right temperature with tea, coffee facilities.

This hotel is very good in many ways. It is easy to find and there is ample parking. The staff are all very friendly and helpful in a relaxed way which I quite like but other reviewers obviously don't.
The food in the restaurant was of excellent quality although the menu choice is not extensive.
The rooms are not large but do contain all that is required. The room I stayed in had obviously had the en-suite refurbished recently. It had a large walk-in shower but no bath. I find this ideal but it may not suit everyone. The free wi-fi worked well for me.

There are two bad points which reduced my appreciation of my stay. One is very minor. The TV in the room is not set up so that its electronic program guide will show what's on now across a range of channels - tedious if you're just looking for something to pass the time for a short period.
The second bad point is much worse. The bed. It was probably the most uncomfortable hotel bed I've slept in for about five years. The mattress was totally lacking in support and tried to help you slide out on to the floor. It should have been replaced some time ago, in my view. This, of course, may be an isolated problem with the room I had but it does suggest that there is a deficiency in keeping a check on such things.

Overall, however, the ambiance and location of the hotel would lead me to go back there if I need to stay in Dundee again.

This hotel is practical and utilitarian rather than in any way fancy. There is ample parking, although NOT, as stated elsewhere, secure: there is quite a distance to carry luggage. The reception area is small - indeed everything is small, including the rooms. Staff are entirely willing, but poorly trained and supervised. Restaurant service is amateur: the girls tend to stand around chatting rather than keeping an eye on what needs clearing. The wifi is good, when it works: it went down for several hours during my stay. It is neither expensive nor specially cheap: average in every way.

Room Tip: As near to reception as possible for the wifi.

I booked two single rooms for two nights and requested as few stairs as possible. The rooms were ground floor (I don't think the hotel has a lift?) and there were only two runs of three steps but with good handrails - so fine. The parking is behind the hotel and potentially quite a distance to carry cases, but this wasn't a worry because a member of staff quickly volunteered to bring them in. The rooms were well appointed and very well serviced. The hotel is on the Perth Road on the outskirts of Dundee on an elevated site, so the views are superb. We were really made welcome! The bar and dining area are particularly attractive and the staff helpfully organised scones and tea (at short notice) so that we could entertain my aunt who lives nearby. The food was all very good. We'll come again.

My first impession was great surroundings with secure free parking. Reception staff friendly and helpfull.
Rooms are spacious warm and comfortable, with tea/coffee making facilities, Iron and a fan as windows dont open very wide, good size bathroom with bath and shower.
the resturant was comfortable on the eyes and again friendly staff.good choices on the menue at a reasonable price. Breakfast very good selection from contenental to cooked..
Overall I would stay here again as it is only 1.5 miles from the city.

I've had the pleasure to stay at the Invercarse on a number of occasions over the past few years as my Company uses the hotel for staff needing accommodation in Dundee. I've always very much enjoyed my stays, the major factor being very friendly and good fun staff, a great bar and highly acceptable food which is always welcome after a long day.

There is a 'however' side to this review though, and it is sad that the rooms and general amenity of the hotel is in dire need of a serious update. The rooms are comfortable enough, but suffer from outdated decor and mediocre bathrooms. The shower in my room last week was just dreadful - it seemed to dribble water at a frighteningly slow pace, and is just not even adequate in this day and age. I expect a hotel shower to drill holes in my skull to wake me up in the morning, but unfortunately at the Invercarse you need to rise 30 minutes earlier than planned to allow the bath to fill from the equally paltry bath taps.

I've had this problem in rooms on both floors - so the shower issue is consistent throughout!

So, with an upgrade of the bathroom facilities and a modern decor this would be a smashing hotel - as it is it is good, has the heart and soul, but not the facilities which are expected and offered. Premier Inn bedrooms are of a far, far higher standard, but we return regularly to the Invercarse for the overall experience which is very pleasant.

An impromptu family gathering from all corners of the globe meant a last minute reservation for lunch for a party of 11 adults and 2 kids.
From the time of arrival the staff were excellent and very efficient and friendly. Lunch menu was varied, many dishes with a Scottish twist. All food was perfectly cooked and thoughtfully presented, even catering for a dairy allergy.
Top marks to the hotel and staff for making lunch special. We will make a return visit the next time we get to Dundee.
