Slessor gardens is surrounded by 4/ 5 lanes of traffic during busy times its like a traffic island
It features a handful of pocket feature gardens the rest of the area is rough grass with paving between the boxes of grass
Used as a pop up concert venue and site for other features
The on-site cafe building lies empty as no tenant has been found.
Young people can be found congregating in the gardens at times smoking dope in the evening
Very quiet in the evenings once the VA shuts at 5pm in general and disconnected from the town centre
The empty plots which surround Slessor gardens have wooden hoardings which don’t do anything for the area.
Top tip - the council parking is expensive best option is to park in the harbour and walk along it’s only a third of the price and a five minute walk
Not really a park just open space until the plots are eventually sold
Worth noting despite spending 100 million on the VA there are no public toilets once the VA shuts at 5pm, if you are there with a disabled person be ready to jump in the car and drive to Tesco
All in all not great

We were wandering around the waterfront area as we had some time to kill before heading to the train station for our train home so I had seen Slessor Gardens on the Dundee Waterfront app and was curious to see it. At first I thought it was just a large grass area with new trees planted along the edges like soldiers. However walking in the direction of the town centre there are a number of walled gardens, smallish, but planted to a theme, there’s an Asian garden, an insect garden, a garden filled with grasses. It’s lovely but the weather was so awful that I would like to come back in Spring or Summer and see it as it becomes a bit more established.

We went here for the 80s festival. Its a great place for a concert although it was made all the better by the good weather. Drinks were chilled, staff were all pleasant, there was enough room for everyone. Twenty quid for a very decent bottle of wine, not bad at all.

Normally a quiet tranquil part of the city. Lovely area to sit
When its concert time it's great as bars restaurantsxall handy and easy public access
Unfortunately the organisation is dire..
Lack of proper security, toilets, proper bar staff all let it down
It's such a shame as it's a great venue , but the organisers have been told many a time to up their game but its falling on deaf ears unfortunately.

Sandwiched between two busy roads you can’t find a more restful place to be, you have individual gardens you can sit In Each with a different theme, you can help yourself to any fruit you happen to see or herbs, there always seem to be lovely smells to enjoy also. There are grassy areas where the have musical event space which are good if the weather is kind, highly recommend
