“we got what we paid for”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

we picked this B&B because it was the cheapest in Moffat & we just wanted somewhere to break our journey. Our room (No1 - the standard ensuite double) was very dated & basic, particularly the tiny shower room - salmon pink suite, an ill fitting sliding door that made an awful noise opening & closing, with an open panel above it meaning it was impossible to be discreet about using the facilities & turning the light on in the night dazzled the person still trying to sleep. It also faced right onto the pavement, & whilst Moffat isn't exactly a busy town any traffic passing literally feet from your bed is likely to disturb all but the heaviest of sleepers - fortunately we always travel with earplugs. Having said that, the bed was comfy & the room was clean. Breakfast didn't offer an overwhelming choice, but the homemade bread was good & the meal did set us up for the day. Moffat is a lovely little town - being just minutes off the motorway it does make a very convenient stopping place, & we had a fantastic evening at Brodies (see separate review) so we will no doubt be back - but there seem to be a lot of other places to stay & we will definitely be trying a different one next time

Room Tip: worth paying a bit extra to avoid room 1

Not much I can say really. The sort of people who are really nice to your face, chatting for ages about football etc, then go and leave a disappointing review when they get home.

One of the friendliest places we've stayed. Lovely owners, we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable.

Our room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the property. The Christmas tree in the lounge area was very pretty, not a bit of tacky tinsel in site!

The breakfast was one of the best I've had. Tasty homemade bread and locally sourced sausages and bacon... Perfect!

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this little gem to anyone heading to Moffat. Perfect if you want a friendly, cosy, home away from home and tremendous breakfast.

Booked this accommodation based on reviews. We were booked for a 15.00 check in. We arrived at 14.50 but thought we would ring the bell anyway and if our room wasn't ready we would go to explore Moffat. No answer when we rang the bell. Went back 10 minutes later - still no answer! Went for a coffee and returned at 16.00 - success! The lady who answered the door tried to make out the bell wasn't working! She did look like she had just woken up! We weren't impressed. She showed us to our room which was clean and adequate. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was good and the gentleman who served it was very friendly.

We stayed at the Seamore Bed and Breakfast a few weeks ago. Alan was very friendly despite us arriving very late at night and showed us to our room. The room was nice and clean as well as the bathroom. Alan also asked us straight away what we would like to have for breakfast and at what time. Alan gave us tips where to find anything to eat for dinner after 9pm which was helpful as we were very hungry after our long journey. The breakfast was nice and fresh and I would definetely recommend a stay there. Our room was also reasonably priced.

Stayed in moffat for one night, to attend a wedding at Auchen castle 1.7 miles away. Arrived at seamore house to a warm welcome from our host. Made sure we had everything we needed, checked what we wanted for breakfast and what time, and even gave us a lift to the wedding wedding venue which was far and beyond his call of duty!
Rooms were spacious enough, very comfortable & clean, and bathroom was spotless. 100% for comfort and hygiene, always number 1 priority on my list and I wasn't disappointed at all.
I hope I can come up to moffat again just to have the pleasure of staying in this lovely B&B again.

We stayed in the Seamore House for only two nights but will definitely stay again! We were greeted very warmly by Heather who showed us to our rooms which are not huge but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. My husband and I had a room overlooking the main road but knowing Moffat as we do there was no problem with noise as the town is very quiet in the evening although you do have tractors driving through in the mornings but not enough to cause any problem at all. My Mums' room overlooked the rear of the building and was even quieter than ours. Guests are asked to fill in a breakfast form, choosing what their breakfast requirements are and what time they would like their breakfast served - some people may find this not to their liking but personally I think this is a really good idea which must cut down on wasted food and effort. The breakfast was really excellent with freshly cooked food and plenty of toast and beverages. Heather very kindly left a can of fizzy drink in our room when she noticed we had finished our bottle. It is little kindnesses like this that really make all the difference.

Room Tip: Room 4 has a shower cubicle that those of us who are built more for comfort than speed might find a...

We have been staying with Heather and Alan for roughly 10 years now and the reason for that is very simple : as they are located in the South of Scotland, it's the perfect starting place for our annual holiday. It's obviously not only the location that matters : over the years, Heather and Alan have become true friends, and the service they provide is second to none. They are both warm, friendly, very helpful persons who will do everything they possibly can to attend to every single request. The rooms are very cosy (we've tried them all over the years :-)) and spotless, and at a very reasonable price. God willing, we'll be coming for many more years...
