“Lovely!”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Stayed for one night on the journey south and wish it had been longer. The 18th century building has been very sympathetically modernised and is well maintained. We had room 102, bright and airy with a very big comfy bed, though it took us a while to find the wardrobe, which was in the bathroom! Food is really excellent - the dinner menu is £30 a head for 3 courses but is very good value considering the quality of locally sourced ingredients and standard of cooking. Breakfast was also very good though husband would have preferred his coffee with a bit more oomph. Wouldn't hesitate to rebook.

We stayed here on our journey from Norfolk to Skye & had booked it on the basis of the dog friendly reviews. We arrived on a hot day to a big cool room with a double & a single brass bed. We were able to sit outside our room in the courtyard & enjoy a drink. The young staff were very friendly & efficient & had set up a table for us in the reception/lounge so that we could enjoy a restaurant menu dinner with our dog & then enjoy breakfast there the next morning. Dinner & breakfast were both excellent & the bed was really comfortable. We also enjoyed a long walk on the river bank only 5 minutes from the hotel. The hotel was so good that we cancelled the hotel we had booked for the way home & stayed here again. We were not disappointed.

Room Tip: I think there are 4 dog friendly rooms. Room 23 had 2 beds(double & single) but room 21 only had...

I stayed one night in the Annandale Arms with my partner and our three dogs. We were delighted not only with the dog-friendly accommodation but also with everything else which the hotel offered. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The quality of the food was first class and the service attentive without being over-bearing. This is my fourth visit to the hotel but my first with three dogs. Being able to park just outside your room, with a dog-exercise area a few seconds away and splendid riverside walks so close by, was so convenient and made managing the dogs so easy. My partner commented that this was the best hotel we had stayed in during our three-week touring holiday. I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone wishing for excellent hospitality and value for money.

Room Tip: If you are taking a dog, make it clear to the hotel that you are so doing and they should allocate y...

Each year we break our journey here on the way north. We always receive the warmest of welcomes and this year we were delighted to be welcomed with scones, cake and afternoon tea. Wonderful. The rooms are bright and nicely decorated and the bathrooms very well appointed. The food in the restaurant is excellent, well presented and very tasty. The friendliness of the staff is a notable feature of this hotel and we can highly recommend it.

We decided to break our long journey to Skye and stay at this hotel for the night. The restaurant food was very good and in pleasant surroundings. Had a little drink in the bar which was again very nice and ample size for a hotel this size.

The room we were in was very nicely decorated in a contemporary style with a fairly big bathroom by hotel standards.

Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
What more can I say!

I have just spent a night in this hotel but was treated as though I was an honoured guest.
I received a friendly welcome and had a very nice room.
The evening meal could not be faulted and the breakfast waexcellent (the kedgeree was the best I have ever tasted!!).
I thoroughly recommend this establishment.

We stayed here for one night while attending a wedding at the nearby Auchen Castle. Used Tripadvisor to find the hotel and booked online. The receptionist, Zach was very polite and helpful and in fact he organised my very early 10:30 am check in as we were attending the afore mentioned wedding, nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The hotel was easy to find and has lots of free parking. The room was very modern and spacious with a large bathroom and comfy bed.
Nice bar area and cosy lounge.
The modern breakfast room was welcoming and the full Scottish breakfast the best I've ever had, the black pudding deserves special mention and as the menu says, even if you don't like black pudding you should try theirs!
For a price of £110 for bed and breakfast we would definitely recommend this hotel.
