“Friendly family -run restaurant”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Went to the Star with five Russian guests who loved the friendly family atmosphere in the upstairs restaurant decorated with commemorative pottery and tinware.

“a step back in time”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

The Star Hotel is famous as the narrowest hotel in the world. As you step through the doors it transports you back to the sixties. Everything from the carpet to the menu is dated but this is part of its charm. The service was efficient and friendly and the food traditional and tasty.

“Good pub food”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Food was good quality and plenty of it. One of us had the steak pie which had plenty of tasty pieces of steak and one had Chicken New Yorker which is chicken with bacon, Monterey Jack cheese and BBQ sauce. The steak pie did not come with gravy which was £1.50 extra which we thought was a bit steep. However the food was good. The decor to the restaurant area is a little old-fashioned but pleasant enough.

“bar meals at the Star”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

The food was poor as well as the portions. seating area in the bar poor. The chicken curry did not have a lot of chicken and the scampi crumb was thick and hard. They also had a form of quick or low cost menu and if you ordered scampi you could choose to have either three pieces or five! big deal!
