“Perfect stopover”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

We stayed for one night on the way back from the highlands and were warmly welcomed by Paul and Denise. Our room was at the back of the house and was very peaceful. It had all the amenities you could wish for and was very comfortable. The location was great being only a very short walk into town. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. I would definitely recommend Queensberry House and I am sure that we will stay there again, hopefully for a bit longer.

Room Tip: Room at the back is very quiet and overlooks the garden.

We were just stopping over in Moffat for one night on our way to Ardnamurchan and chose Queensberry house with the help of Tripadvisor. We were pleasantly surprised with Moffat itself and would be happy to return there sometime. Queensberry house was welcoming and comfortable with excellent breakfast and Paul was very helpful in advising about local walks etc. We had a lovely evening meal at Brodie's restaurant ( reviewed separately)

We broke our journey to the Isle of Mull at Moffat and were greeted with a very friendly welcome by Denise and Paul, who were excellent hosts and we felt immediately at home. In our opinion everything was excellent and alot of care and attention has gone into making quests feel special. We enjoyed the hotel meal which was recommended by our hosts and again made to feel extremely welcome. Everything was within walking distance and we would have no hesitation in returning or recommending to friends. We are missing the beautiful breakfasts, and the informed chatter. Thank you for helping make our overall holiday very memorable.

We stayed overnight, on our way to the Cairngorms, Queensberry House provided a very cosy and comfortable stop off! We were welcomed with tea and cake. Lovely breakfast and pleasant room. Highly recommended.

We stayed overnight with Paul and Denise in May 2013. The room was pleasant and clean, the facilities modern and of high standard and the reception from the owners was warm and friendly, including a welcoming glass of sherry. We were also given an excellent recommendation for a place for dinner. On top of all of this, Paul and Denise were very understanding about our own mistake over the dates of booking. Nicer people would be hard to find!

Day 9 of our Lands End to John O Groats ride, and well used to one night only accommodation at this point and Queensberry House proved to be one of the very best. A great and friendly welcome, bikes looked after and secured so we could immediately relax. Rooms beautifully clean, bed comfortable with a superb breakfast in the morning.

Good walk into the lovely town of Moffat for an evening meal (at Claudio's) and next morning ready to tackle a pleasant, leg warming 3.5 mile ascent out of Moffat.

Great place to break your journey north, worth leaving the M74 to visit Moffat and here's a great place to stay. And then a lovely start to your journey back onto main road. Many thanks to wonderful hosts, a great start to the Scottish element of our bike ride.

We stayed here for one night on the way down south from Scotland. It was such a relief to find somewhere like Moffat so close to the main road. Queensberry House is an elegant Grade II listed building in an open, quiet setting, and has been refurbished without spoiling its character. Paul greeted us with a tea and biscuits in the lounge, and was very happy to give us information on the town and where we could eat. Everything was perfectly clean, and a lot of thought had gone into providing everything we needed, especially the great choices on the menu for breakfast, which was way above the usual standard of cooking for B&B. I had perfectly cooked scrambled egg with real smoked salmon, not orange supermarket strips - delicious! Apart from being designated an Outstanding Conservation Area for its architecture, Moffat is also Scotland's first "Walkers Are Welcome" town - I could happily have stayed a few days longer and tried out the walks.
