“Family Wedding”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

The room was beautfully decorated for the humanist ceremony, and the setting amongst Hornel's paintings and even a Red Admiral Butterfly fluttering around was perfect!. The champagne and canopes served in the artist's studio afterwards were very good too, although the room could have been kept a little warmer. With the wood burner lit it would have been wonderful.

“Nice house, Great garden.”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

A visit to Artists Town makes this a must see. The house is nice, and the paintings brilliant, but that garden....! The garden is a surprise, you don't expect it, but it is brilliant! Congrats to the team who tend it, you get 15 out of 10 from me.

“Atmospheric and fascinating”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Loved Broughton House for its history, art and garden. It has a small gift shop but I think a wee tea room would enhance it. Well worth a visit.

“A little gem”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

The house is fascinating, smaller than expected, but with an enormous studio at the back. The garden is quite lovely. Disabled access through the rear entrance

“An essential place to visit for artists”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

This is Hornel's house and studio, containing artefacts which he collected throughout his lifetime, and it is steeped in history. The garden is outstanding, and a visit to the house is an important for anyone wishing to understand the Glasgow Boys, the influence of Japanese art on this group, and the position which Hornel had in this Scottish community.
