“Superb meal, come hungry!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

Ate in the restaurant during a week's stay in Kirkcudbright. We had an excellent meal; I struggled to finish mine because the portions were so generous :-)

The "haggis tower" is highly recommended as is the Beef Olives.

Best meal we've had in Kirkcudbright.

Last minute decision to stay over night in Kirkcudbright and we were lucky enough to stumble upon the Kirkcudbright Bay. Food was first class, room was clean, spacious, nice bathroom and very nice wall mounted wide screen T.V. Fluffy robes and expensive toiletries provided. Excellent value for money, staff all very pleasant - will definitely be returning for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Room 1, a little street noise, but quite from 11 pm. Very good value for money

There was a nice atmosphere of jovial locals as we entered the bar to ask for a last-minute room. The manager was very helpful, made us feel welcome and asked if we'd like to see the room before deciding. We were shown to a rather grand bedroom on the first floor overlooking the street. It was clean, well equipped with snuggly white dressing gowns, and was about the size of a medium swimming pool with elegant dark wood furniture. Bed very cosy, fancy toiletries in the bathroom, and we felt nicely spoiled. We really wished we'd arrived in time to order dinner in the restaurant (last orders 9pm) as the menu looked very tasty. Breakfast was served in the pretty glass restaurant and included haggis. Kirkudbright itself is a delightful town. Free parking outside the hotel. We paid £65 for the room, which given our extensive experience all around Scotland on this trip was very good value.

Room Tip: The big front room on the first floor overlooking the street is extremely generously proportioned.

Don't usually write on these sites but really felt I must in this case. We had a first class stay at this hotel and like a previous reviewee we also stayed out late however we asked the owners about getting access late at night and they were more than happy to provide us with a key to the front door. In no way do I expect an owner of any hotel to stay up and "check-in" all guests to their beds until the wee small hours! The food here must also be complemented, first class fresh fish dishes. Very welcoming and we can't wait to return. I wish more small hotels were as accommodating!

Stayed at this wonderfull hotel from 24th august till 31st augt, we found the reasonably new owners, to be so accomodating in every aspect of our stay ate most nights in the hotel restaurant the food was all fresh cooked and had a very good menu.We had a very comfortable bed in our very spacious accomodation, which was very modernly designed. We would certainly recommend this hotel to any future holidays any one may have.the owners of this hotel were very friendly and would assist us in any problems we had which was actually none..All staff were very pleasant and helpfull throught out our stay..

We were enjoying a drink with some friends at the Kirkudbright Bay when the smell of the food tempted us to ask for the menu. We booked a table and were not disappointed. Good pub food fresh and served with a smile. The Bay provides a good middle of the road price option in the town. Exceeded expectation will return when visiting family in the area later this year. Cannot comment on accommodation. Waiter was delightful - thanks.

My wife and i had dinner here when we learnt that there were new owners. The food was excellent by any standards, nicely served and plenty of it. This is a much needed unpretentious establishment, with very modest prices. Also it opens for dinner at 5.00p.m. - again much needed in Kirkcudbright. Let's hope that it continues to be so good.
