Great location!! had drinks and bar snacks food was very good. Breakfast was also great and staff friendly. lovely front to hotel. Rooms very clean and quiet. not far to walk to Gretna Outlets with a fab Ralph Lauren shop. Gretna Blacksmiths 5 minute walk away and 1 mile from town centre.

For a very decent price I booked 3 rooms. Personell is friendly although restaurant waiters seemed stressed by the crowds to serve (was less than 50% full)

Food blend and really not that good in the evening. Breakfast coffee looked like tea. So don't go there for the food.

Interior is a bit outdated but decent rooms and beds. Clean. For the price it's certainly a good deal.

Fine to stay for 1-2 nights. Wouldn't make this my dream hotel and exquisite food experience.

Did not stay at this hotel but did use bar and restaurant, sorry on both accounts. First the bar same drinks most of the night and not once did we pay the same price how can that work? To be fair the young new girl Isobella was a star, she has only just started work here but I am sure with time she will gain experience and excell. Now the food, prepacked microwaved garbage. We were going to order the roast dinners until we asked what veg was on offer as my wife does not like cauliflower only to be told that it was all mixed,,,,dead give away for microwave food. The meals we ordered where not much better even getting the potatoes the wrong way round now you would think they would be taken back to kitchen but no not at this place they exchanged them there and then at our table infront of us. Having not yet written a bad review and reading the previous ones I was wondering if we were at the wrong hotel but alas no, I would and could not recommend this hotel to anyone, sorry.

Just back from one overnight stay - cannot fault this Hotel at all, room clean and quiet with nice outlook, dinner in the Anvil restaurant very good and a good breakfast with adequate choice. Staff very welcoming and friendly particularly so in the Anvil restaurant. Would definitely return and will recommend to others.,

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor quiet room as the Hotel does accommodate wedding parties.

Historic building with a bit of a nasty looking 1960s style annex. Rooms are a good size and well finished, but the beds are softer than a bag of marshmallows and the bathrooms could do with a bit of tlc. Shower had absolutely no pressure and the temperature of the water was very much hit or miss, so if you have thick or long hair, don't wash it unless you plan on standing under a tepid drip for 40 minutes while you wait for the shampoo to rinse.

That said, I really liked the place. Great gardens, food was lovely, menu had a good range, staff were fantastic! The place had a lovely feel to it, great atmosphere, and people were super kind and patient with my wee 2year old. If you like shopping, then pop along to the big outlet village, only minutes from the hotel.

Overall, couple of small niggles with the room did not change the fact that this is a super wee place and I would definitely come back!

We stayed 1 night at end of April. ( Thursday evening) hotel was quiet and only about one third full. We had a twin rom over looking the grass, so motorway noise. Bar meal was okay for the price, nothing special, but breakfast was good.
On the above basis would return again , but some other report would make me careful.

Was so looking forward to my daughters wedding at Gretna, But what a start we had. This hotel was A huge disappointment, needs money spent urgently. Tired basic small room, not very clean, hole in bath. small bed, mould around windows etc. No wifi (unplug) Took one look and left. Lost my money as i had paid well in advance, phoned reception to complain, only to be told that they had no other rooms and would i like to speak to the manager, waited for awhile no one came so we left. My other members of family had a bit better rooms and they was last minute? really dont understand the logic.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.
