The mill is a lovely place. It has a cafe and information all about gatehouse of fleet. They have a model village of gatehouse showing how it looked 200 years ago and the much industry they had. There is also a gallery

Visited Gatehouse of Fleet this morning & stumbled upon The Mill.
Lovely friendly service with fresh baked sultana & date scone for my wife plus an orange and sultana cake for me.
We sat out on the terrace watching the wildlife.

Chanced upon this while looking for tourist information. The exhibition centre was free to enter and had an interesting display about the origins of the town with a few activities for the kids to use. Had a walk around the secondhand bookshop too, which entranced my kids (5 & 8). Had lunch in the cafe. It said table service but I was up at the counter on a few occasions. We enjoyed the food with the exception of the sponge cake as the fresh cream had soured. We got an apology and an alternative cakes.

Have used this Cafe a few times in the past and always been underwhelmed by the service, food passable but not exceptional. Would have used the place across the road today but it was full up so thought we'd give this one another chance. The place was not busy but as usual the service lacked warmth or charm. Ordered the soup and a panini. The panini wasn't a panini but some other kind of flat bread. The soup was terrible, very thick and lacked flavour, we were unable to eat it. Waitress apologised but no refund was offered. On leaving we were called back by the same member of staff who had taken payment when we placed our order and accused of not paying! Fortunately we had paid by card so not difficult to prove. Suffice to say this was the last chance we'll be giving the place, won't be back.

Food was nice however the service was bad. No customer service skills it felt like an inconvenience to order and the toilets were filthy, had I gone in them first there is no way we would have eaten here
