“Disappointing stay”

Wish I had seen your reports first. The bedroom was comfortable and clean, though the shower felt like you were standing under a watering can - it took ages to have a shower! On the upside, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would not recommend the restaurant for dinner. It was dreadful. The "beef" was nearly all gristle. Breakfast was enjoyable.

BOUTIQUE RATES for ROADSIDE MOTEL. Desperate need of remodeling. It might have been clean, but felt dirty. The water had been opened and drank by someone else prior to our arrival. DO NOT eat at the restaurant in the evening. I was served duck so tough that I needed a steak knife. It was supposedly a breast, but was cut into chunks, some of which had bone fragments in it. When I scraped off the sauce to see what I was eating, I realized that there were still feathers on the meat. On the upside, the bed was comfortable and the staff friendly. The next night we spent elsewhere, in a place twice as luxurious, were twice as pampered and fussed over by the staff, and paid the same amount of money. Go figure.

This hotel is living in the past! The bedroom I stayed in was really dated. I had to ask for the bathroom to be cleaned, I would have been bathing in somebody elses filth otherwise! I had been allocated a SMOKING room, they had tried to diguise the smell by some kind of 'plug in' device. I couldn't decide which was the lesser of the two evils, woke up to itchy eyes, sore throat etc. Checked out the following day, checked into the Bank of Fleet Hotel....FANTASTIC PLACE, fantastic welcome, great breakfasts, beautifully clean, great stay!

  • Liked — location
  • Disliked — did not advise that I was allocated a smoking room, no other bedrooms available on arrival!

Just had a weekend break break in this beautiful part of Scotland. All the staff were the friendliest I have come across. The service and food in the restaurant were both very good. The downstairs rooms were recently refurbrished but some work need in the upstairs rooms especially the 'attic' number 19. it wa spacious and clean but the shower was tempremental and although the towels were changed there was no replacement shower lotions for the second night!

Our main gripe was the noise on the second night. A local group were partying and invaded the residents sitting lounge (bagpipes and all). The noise went on into the early hours and spilled outside where the laughing and talking kept us awake until around 2am.

If the plumbing was sorted and a sensible cut off time for the non-resident parties was set our rating would definitely be towards the 4 star.

Have just had a three night break at the hotel with dinner bed and breakfast. The food was excellent with a range of choices to suit everyone, although it was off season and the hotel was very quiet everything was available on the menu and the dining room was always set out and the whole of the hotel was warm and comfortable. Our room was spacious with a good sized bathroom with shower and bath. When we arrived we were even given a voucher for a free lunch which was anice touch. Every staff member we met was friendly, would definately recommend it for a relaxing short break.

I booked this hotel for one night before I read the reviews on Trip Advisor. I was a little worried...I shouldn't have been. We had an excellent stay. Yes, the decor is a little dated but it does contribute to the atmosphere of the place. All the staff were very friendly. The food was wonderful ( service a little slow but they were very busy and the pleasantness of the restaurant staff made up for any shortfall).
We took our dog and he was made very welcome, with chews and a towel for him to use!
I would definately return.

Outstanding service overwhelming attitude around the place. Excellent customer service from all but one very rude Eastern european chef chap who actually told me where to go when i enquired as to whether room service was available and appeared very aggressive when confronted as to his attitude and i felt very aggrieved. Except for this i enjoyed my stay enormously even though the place smells like rabbie burns actually died there and was left under floor of dining room during warm weather. FANTASTIC HOLIDAY
