I stayed here because I was working locally. I am glad I did. I understand that the hotel has recently been upgraded and this shows throughout. I had a lovely room on the ground floor with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. I had a meal in the restaurant which is backed by Marco Pierre White this is well worth a visit with prices quite reasonable.

The bar area is also excellent which is great to retire to after a hard days work. If you are visiting this area I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff too were very helpful and always cheerful

Had a voucher for a gourmet break. Decided to stay just before Christmas to get a break before the chaos!
The deal was for £20 each towards dinner, plus a bottle of proseco, bed and breakfast.
We arrived on a blustery afternoon and was directed to a modern, comfortable room. The bathroom had an excellent shower, but no bath - which didn't bother us. The hospitality tray was poor - instant coffee, 1 type of tea and pots of UHT milk. No biscuits or anything.
We went down for an early dinner, and was given the option of £20 each off the a la carte menu or we could pick the festive menu which was £20 each for 3 courses plus coffee and mince pies. We had to pick from the same menu. We chose the festive menu. Nice choice of warm bread rolls. Had pate which was fine and served with oat biscuits. Then the traditional turkey dinner which was OK but nothing special. Meat was OK, potatoes (mashed and roast) were good, bland boiled veg (carrots, swede & sprouts) at least wasn't overcooked. Cranberry sauce seemed to be from a jar and the stuffing from a packet. pigs in blankets were average and there was no bread sauce.
Pud - cranachan was quite nice but the meringue with winter berries (blackcurrants???) not so good. But the best part of the meal was a huge pot of excellent strong coffee with a mini mince pie. Oh and the staff were very obliging, swapping proseco for a bottle of red.
After a comfortable nights sleep we went to breakfast. There was some standard fruit (prunes and grapefruit) and fruit salad to have with cereal or yogurt. No sign of porridge!!! (In Scotland???)
The cooked breakfast was the usual with the addition of haggis. No offer of fish - smoked haddock or kippers. No continental breakfast - unless you count babybels and cream cheese. The bread was the square plastic stuff and the jam/marmalade those little plastic tubs of tasteless jelly. No sign of honey or anything else. The cooked food was warm - not hot. The coffee (which I was looking forward to after last night) was so weak that I had to ask the waitress to make some fresh.
Again the staff were very nice and obliging and I have no criticism of them at all.
So the hotel was comfy with nice rooms. The staff were very nice but I think if you served most of that food to Marco - he would throw it back at you! It was OK-ish but not the gourmet break we expected.

Have stayed here a few times in the past and always enjoyed it and thought it would be difficult to improve the hotel but I have to say they have managed just that.
Staff have to be the friendliest anywhere and the new Marco Pierre White restaurant was excellent. Don't think that the prices will be through the roof with Marco's name on it , they are average prices for well above average food.
Bar, restaurant and management staff were great , always ready to talk and make you friendly. Tried hard to think of some thing wrong about the stay and the only thing I could come up with was the fact that they forgot to bring a tea spoon at breakfast one day LOL.

Room Tip: Executive rooms are fab.

Booked a two night stay and upgraded to the executive suite since it was only an extra £20 per night. The hotel itself was nice and a relaxing ambiance - we were located in the newer part of the building which had decorating works going on but there was no issues with this. We were pleasantly surprised to find within the hotel a newly opened Marco Pierre white restaurant which was very elegantly decorated in tasteful modern furnishings. Our meal was part of our deal for the first night and we were not disappointed as the quality was outstanding and portion size more than adequate. Id recommend the hotel for the restaurant alone and think it will do well over the next few months for the hotel. Overall a pleasant relaxing stay and the staff were helpful throughout

We had a warm welcome at reception & the room was large, bright & spotlessly clean. The shower was quite powerful, with endless hotwater. The staff in the bar & restaurant were all very friendly & very professional....if I owned a hotel I would employ them all! The food in the newly opened "Marco Pierre White" restaurant was excellent & portion size was good. The hotel is about 1 mile out of town in a lovely, quiet, parkland setting. We had a great two night stay & cannot recommend it highly enough.
This is the second Aston hotel we have stayed in & they seem to train their staff well.

Only one Con, when we booked we requested an executive sweet, but there was a mistake and we were given a standard room.
However, the standard room is finished to an excellent standard, huge room and comfy bed. Huge shower and modern shower room.
All the staff was nice and friendly.
The recently opened restaurant within the hotel was absolutely brilliant, and reasonably priced. Excellent food and drink quality. Would stay here again without any hesitation.

We had a great few days at this hotel, classed as a romantic break, good price with afternoon tea on arrival.
The hotel was being refurbished around the guests so there were decorators and carpet layers everywhere but the staff worked through the chaos and were really welcoming qnd friendly though we could have done without the fire alarm going off in the early hours of the morning..
The only downside was the afternoon tea - I did consider offering to show the kitchen staff how to make an edible scone, and real jam, but maybe the renovation work also affected the kitchen. All other food was very good.
Would come again.
