We hadn't booked anywhere in advance and just drove past this place as we entered Dumfries. We drove around Dumfries to look at options for accommodation but found ourselves coming back to the very first place we saw. Only 5 mins walk into town

Looked at 2 options for rooms, one was 65 and the other was 75 GBP / Night / 2 people. We took the 75 room which was very nice, clean and very spacious, it even had 2 bathrooms. The breakfast was very well done and organised.

The lady of the hotel was probably the most helpful hotelier I have come across (except maybe 1 guy in Cambodia). She was very polite, friendly and spent time to advise us on which places would be best for us to visit in the short time we had here.

Often you find that these old houses that are converted into hotels just don't work very well, usually because of a lack of planning and low budget. This is not the case with this hotel, it has been converted well and the decor is well fitting.

Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Dumfries based on location, cost, cleanliness, comfort and friendliness.

Room Tip: Room 2 is very nice, overlooking car park

Stayed on a Saturday night in room 6 with bay window looking over the front of the hotel. Nice clean fresh room - a little small - but more than adequate for a short stay. Good breakfast freshly cooked to order.

We stayed here for a few days over valentines week. Having to check in at 4pm is a bit of a pain but we arrived just after 3.15pm and we were welcomed with opened arms by Terry. After a brief chat and settling the bill, we went up to our room. The room was very nice, big big bed, large bathroom with a nice shower in there. Very clean and tidy, plenty of towels and tv mounted up on the wall. We were asked to fill in a card for breakfast and leave it on the reception desk, which is a geat idea. I had booked a meal at a local restaurant , Bruno's , which is about a 10 min walk from the hotel , well worth it. After the meal we headed back to the hotel and spent about an hour and half chatting the Terry in the hotel bar, Breakfast was very nice, and once again we were served by Terry, who was chatty and helpful. After a day out touring the local area and visiting the Red Kite feeding station, we came back to the hotel and met Lynne, she was friendly and informative and suggested a local pub for a nice meal for our final night there, and even offered to drive us there. Once again after having the meal we headed back to the hotel and headed for the bar, where Terry was once again obliging to sit with us and have a chat. Overall , a nice comfy, friendly and relaxed hotel, Well worth a visit and we shall be heading there again sometime soon.

We travelled from Motherwell for an overnight. We had read previous reviews and were looking forward to our stay. We were not disappointed. The reviews tell it all. Great personal service. Terry booked us in and showed us to our room. Great touch. We loved our room. (room 5) the Wi-Fi was very easy to use. The personal touches in the room are great. The bed was enormous, to the fact that I couldn't reach the hubby to heat my cold feet. Lynne was very helpful with reccomending a nice restaurant. We loved it. The local map was very helpful. Ordering breakfast the night before was a great idea. Breakfast was fantastic. Loved the porridge. We will definitely stay here again. It is lovely and has high level of cleanliness. Parking is great. We would highly reccomend this hotel to friends and family.

Stopped at Huntingdon House Hotel for a couple of nights this week. The hotel is quite central for town and the station.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, and Lynn and Terry were very friendly and helpful, and even drove me into town to meet friends for a meal. The room was very comfortable, with lots of extra nice touches in both the bedroom and bathroom.
Breakfast was also excellent with a good choice.
This hotel deserves the accolades it receives.

Well this is my third trip to Dumfries. This time for a short trip to Scotland with my wife. Terry & Lyn, remembered me from a couple of years ago, and we received the same warm welcome.
As before, the house is spotless throughout. Terry and Lyn still go that EXTRA bit to make your stay one to remember. Nothing is too much trouble.
The rooms are spacious, lovely decor, and in keeping with tone of the house. The en-suites are spotless, clean towels every day, everything works TV WiFI etc.
The downstairs bar is cosy, and Terry always has time for a chat. You won’t find a speck of dust anywhere, even the glass light fittings get attention! !!
Breakfast is superb, well presented and served on hot plates!! (I am fussy about that sorry) !!
Ample free onsite parking, and many good eating places all within 10 - 15 mins walk.
The Cavern Arms needs a visit !!!!!

Just returned from a long weekend in Dunfries to attend the Scottish Soul Weekender. Booked the Huntington via the web site and was not disappointed. We received a wonderful warm welcome from Terry and was then taken to our room. The attention to detail was first class with extra toiletries in the on suit, hot, hot water and a good stocked tea tray. The bed was comfortable with spare pillows and throw in the wardrobe. Breakfast was first class, cooked to order and delicious. Terry was front of house and an attentive host. He is obviously pasionate about Dunfries and full of information about dining out and places of interest to visit.
Thank you Terry and Lynne for a suburb stay.
