“Great Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

After a day out driving around southwestern Scotland we stumbled upon the Steamboat Inn. With a fantastic view of the Nith Estuary, a small beachfront, and wonderful ownership it was a fantastic place to drop in for a pint and conversation.

“Beautiful location, excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

We stayed for a night and ate here on 11th November and were extremely pleased with our stay. The new managers (at The Steamboat Inn since August) go out of their way to be welcoming. The bedroom was spacious, immaculately clean, and had views over the estuary. Our evening meal in the pub lounge was good - haddock and chips and a special of salmon wrapped in plaice. The breakfast was excellent also. We could have had breakfast at any time to suit ourselves which is really good individual service. Real fires add to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the bar areas. The Inn has outside tables overlooking the estuary which are wonderful for dining on warm days. This is definitely a place we shall return to.

“A hidden gem!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Got to this pub just after 2.30pm on Wednesday. Even though they stop serving food at 2.30!the chef offered to cook for us. We shared the chili nachos for a starter, lashings of crispy nachos topped with delicious chili with a spicy kick and melted cheese, along with tomato salsa, sour cream & guacamole. Very well presented in a wooden serving platter. For the main I chose the prawn linguine, absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this dish, it was served with a side salad and ciabatta bread. My better half chose the Balmoral chicken, he said the combination of chicken, haggis and the whiskey and peppercorn sauce was mouth watering lay delicious, he didn't want it to end. This was served with chips and fresh vegetables. My meal was washed down with 2 glasses of superbly chilled Pinot Grigio. The husband had a bottle of Magners. The total cost for this delicious meal was £38.00. In our opinion very well worth the money. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Hope to visit again one day when up that way.
