“Great mainstream/arthouse cinema in centre of town”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

The Robert Burns Centre is a small, independent cinema in the heart of Dumfries. Always an eclectic mix of films both mainstream and independent as well as topical documentaries.

They run a film club, where you can get involved in discussion about film, and they run events and programmes for young filmmakers and for children, where thay can actively hands on participate in many aspects of the film production process.

A great cultural gem in the town, and to be commended for running the place so well!

“Fantastic”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

I visited with my Mum to see the Quartet, and was massively impressed. Wonderful atmosphere in the small cinema room, and the place was packed out on a midweek evening. Exactly the kind of place to go in the winter. Will be back

“Alas - Not doing the Bard justice”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

This needs a good shake-up. It needs to capture in signage, explanation, audio the romance, the devilry, the genius of Burns. This is locked into 1950s curating. The staff care but are poorly trained.
