Visited the castle and the visitor centre with a castle mad child. It has a moat so his favourite. Overall the ruin is in good condition but it is a ruin. The visitor centre is interactive too. Only marked it four because we felt there could be a little more information to hand though the staff were great with filling us in

Loved our visit to this castle. The short film in the visitor centre was very informative and the information boards around the castle ruin really helped us understand how this castle had developed and provided luxurious accommodation to the inhabitants in the past. A fascinating place and very reasonably priced. The staff in the tearoom were very friendly and helpful too.

Lots of history and facts around the castle. On a nicer day than the rainy one when I visited would have made for more beautiful photos.

Fantastic old ruins that you can take your time exploring and even going up in some of the towers! Lovely grounds and you can even go and see where the first castle stood.
