The hotel is old and tired but clean. Problem is the price is not worth the stay. Do not eat in the restaurant average food at restaurant prices and the manager is a bit of a clown. Spa was nice and clean and had the added bonus of us being the only guests.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent visit to our hotel.
I understand that you booked one of our family rooms for your family of 5 and this wouldn't have been ideal given that these rooms are usally occupied by two adults and two children.
Our policy with family rooms is to charge £10 per child for bed & breakfast when sharing their parents rooms and to charge for any addtional food taken.
I was pleased to find that you were able to enjoy the facilities at our leisure club during your stay and I understand that on the weekend you visited we also had live entertainment in the hotel on both the Saturday and Sunday nights of your stay.
Whilst value for money is always a matter of opinion I do not feel that a rate of £60 to £70 inc.VAT per adult for dinner, bed and breakfast, use of our leisure facilities, wifi and free parking to be unreasonable for a weekend break in the middle of August.
In saying that I also appreciate with a large family how hotel costs can escalate and with this in mind I would be only too happy to discuss a special rate for a future visit when we could accommodate you in two of our adjoining rooms that are more suitable for families.

Stayed 2 nights on Thursday and Friday 2 and 3 rd of August to attend a family wedding at the hotel. The wedding reception was great, food first rate and bar staff once got going were helpful the first round I went for no money in the till so in the end had to charge it to my room I would have thought that when a wedding party arrives you would have been ready including money in the till. Now the not so good our room number 49 the floor every time you moved on it what a noise , the decor was a let down very tired with marks on the wallpaper, the bathroom all though it was more modern had a terrible shower head that needed to be replaced and only a silly shower curtain that did not stop water going every where and that is what is probably causing the bath panel to rot in the corner . The wi fi did not work the first night even reported it to a member of staff in the main hall and at a cost of £238.00 for the 2 nights not worth it will ve going back to Aston such a same

The hotel was clean and the breakfast was good and Alan the night porter was very polite and helpful but everything else just lets it down and to find my friends in the same wedding party had booked on line and got the room for £73.00 just says it all

I was delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the wedding reception your attended in the hotel.
Our hotel is particularly popular for weddings and it is very gratifying for everyone concerned to recieve such positive feedback. Your comment about the "first rate" food served is also much appreciated.
Clearly there has been quite a difference in the room rates paid by guests attending the wedding and it is often the case that room rates can vary depending on when they were booked.
As I have no details about your friends booking (or the room type booked) I am unable to comment any further.
My advice here would be for prospective guests to contact the hotel directly or book rooms on the hotel's own website to get the best available rate.
The hotel's website should offer the best online rate and should you find a better rate elsewhere we offer a 'price match'.

Stayed here overnight, dinner bed and breakfast and cabaret show. Some parts of hotel slightly dated, however bedrooms modern and nice modern bathrooms. Staff pleasant and leisure facilities adequate. Nice dinner and excellent breakfast. Cabaret show, good old fashioned entertainment. Would recommend, if looking for somewhere nice but not too plush to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on main road can be slightly noisy

As a privately owned 3 Star hotel we like to think that we "do what it says on the tin."
Our tribute weekends offer excellent value for money and we offer overnight accommodation with breakfast, free use of our leisure facilities, a four course dinner with coffee, live entertainment and a disco for under £60 per person.
We don't pretend to be a 5 star hoel but guests looking for a little more luxury can book one of our Executive Rooms or Four Poster Suites for a small supplement and many guests pre book spa/ beauty treatments prior to their stay.

I recently stayed in the Cairndale width my wife and had a lovely long weekend stay. The hotel has an overall 'dated' look about, it but this merely adds to its appeal. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the leisure facilities superb and the food in the restaurant first class. There is no doubt that this hotel isn't 5 star but I would however highly recommend it to anyone looking for a break in the Dumfries area.

We stayed at the Cairndale while attending a family wedding, and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and efficient and really made us feel welcome. The spa was great as we managed to squeeze in a couple of family swims in the pool. Breakfast was good, the full scottish including haggis… but no black pudding, I'm docking 1/2 a point for that :).
The only real downside in the room was the rather creaky floorboards!

Room Tip: It can be quite a long walk from reception to your room, check when you book. Also they have a lot of weekend functions, that go on quite late. If you're bothered by noise make sure your not in a room directly above the ballroom!

Thank you for your excellent feedback following your recent visit to our hotel for a family Wedding.
Our Hotel is particularly popular for weddings in the Dumfries area and we have worked hard over the years to establish and maintain our reputation as one of the leading venues for wedding receptions locally.
Your feedback about the friendliness of our staff and how they made you feel welcome is particularly kind and I know this will be warmly welcomed by everyone concerned. Thank you once again.
