“Xmas Treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2012

We visited this pub when staying at Dumfries. We went in at lunch time for some lunch and found the food really good and good value for money. Staff were helpful and friendly.

“Frozen food badly served”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2011

Had our Christmas party here and won't be back. Slow service lukewarm food and terrible coffee. All frozen and not even fresh cream with the dessert. Minimal effort maximum profit. Dire.

“GOING DOWNHILL -deep fried frozen food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2011

I agree with the previous comment in that the standard of food in this place is going downhill. They have just changed the menu - it is now far more limited and although Gordon Ramsay likes a more compact menu that is fine if the food is freshly prepared - in this place it appears it is a combination of microwavable/deep fried food.

I had a curry - small portion with one cup of rice and two deep fried popaddums - the fat was still lying on them
We also had a vegi burger - again appeared deep fried and burnt around the sides with tasteless chips.

I like the place as a pub and in the past the food was decent enough but I am afraid we will not eat here again unless the quality improves

“Going down hill”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2011

We used to visit this restaurant on a regular basis and also stay here for a night out as it was very friendly and handy as they had a dancefloor upstairs. BUT we were there last night as soon as we walked in and took a seat near the door there was a very bad smell so we moved to the upper level. We took a seat and realised that there is now no waitress service so you have to order at the bar. The girl at the bar was very nice. The glasses for drinks were not the cleanest, the tables were sticky and the decor is getting worn out. The simple things like dusting and making the place smell nice and wiping the dust off of the tvs make all the difference but it looks as if nobody takes care of the place and its becoming tired. The starter came and it was lovely we had a sharer combo, the nachos didnt look very nice as the metled cheese was too melted and kind of disappeared, there was too much nachos on the plate it spoiled it. The main meal came and i was looking forward to the steak pie but it was a huge dissappointment, their was very little steak in the pie and the peices were so small, it wasnt worth the money, it was a shame because the steak pie used to be awesome, not anymore! Everyone loves a homemade steak pie.
The Granary used to be a brillaint night out, we were really dissapointed!!
