“Friendly Lochside Inn”
Reviewed June 16, 2010

I stayed here for one night and was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and other customers. It is a relaxed place and the food is good and the atmosphere in the bar was great. The restaurant needs a little something to make it more welcoming. Don't expect 5 star luxury at this price but the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. I believe it can get noisy at the weekend but the owner is taking positive steps to deal with this.

We were looking for a weekend away from it all and were thoroughly pleased to find this superb place sandwiched between two lochs, sitting at the foot of some stunning little hills. Staff and management were friendly and created a warm, homely setting. Locals provided some much appreciated banter and bonhomie. George kept everyone in stitches with his good nature and eccentric habits. Top notch food. Clean and comfortable rooms. Easy access to wonderful walks nearby. Absolutely no complaints and we could happily have stayed for longer, probably will next time. Thanks indeed to all!

We camped here for 2 nights. It's a lovely little site with pitches right along the banks of the loch. We ate in the Inn which was reasonably priced and lovely. The welcome is great, so laid back and at ease. Lovely dog friendly, child friendly and just everyone friendly! There were some noisy rough campers over the bridge, nothing to do with the Inn but obviously impacting on their guests. The owner spoke to them, the police and they were gone pretty quickly. Don't come with your airs and graces, it's a laid back and chilled out Inn n some of the most spectacular countryside Scotland has to offer.

We thankfully arrived just before the lunchtime rush - there are only 4 tables in the bar area for eating at and the room got pretty crowded when people were queuing at the bar. I noticed there was a dining room however it was through the hotel and was dark and cold. The food was decent enough, you couldnt really go wrong with soup and sandwiches ! I agree with a previous review that George (the black alsation) was the star of the place however if you dont like dogs, look out !
The scenery is spectacular and the place had a nice buzz about it.

Went to camp at Tibbie Shiels Inn and have dinner there. What an experience (!) Beautiful setting, on the edge of the Loch and looking fantastic - what could be better.
Campsite was packed with large groups, dogs everywhere snapping and fighting with each other, and the midges oh my , am still scratching 3 days later.
What really killed it for us was despite being told when we arrived by the owner there was "no partying after 12) at 2.30 am one group were still singing their football songs, another couple having a v drunken argument and kids screaming all over. 3.30 am we have the "where's ma dug gone" show as very drunken v v loud women searches for her now missing pooch at the top of her voice. Honestly it was like living on the set of Shameless.
To top it off my other half has the runs since her return.
I would avoid like the proverbial plague

To start off, Tibbie Sheils has been extermely welcoming both to my family and my friends! The management below, who many of the other reviewers seem to dislike, is actually very laid back, easy to chat to, extremley friendly & helpful! I cannot praise him more to be perfectly honest!
The accomodation, b&b, whilst very basic, is pleasant and comfortable. Obviously, there is going to be insects- you are staying in the middle of nowhere in Scotland!!

And yes, i will be going back!
