“Thank you for a pleasant stay.”

Taking a short break to the area of our origins we were lucky to find this hotel. The Philipburn is very well appointed with friendly, obliging staff and owners. The meals are excellent - ample portions - many choices (some making interesting use of local ingredients) and lovely presentation. When we return to the Borders we will not look for accomodation elsewhere.

We stayed here for just one night whilst working in the area and I wish it had been more. Nice greeting at check in and lovely room (Roxburgh) with split level sitting area and sleeping area. There is plenty of parking, a nice lounge and decent wifi. The food at dinner was superb (although my chips were slightly underdone) - the game pie was deliciously tender and we were even tempted by the desserts. Breakfast was similarly nice. Certainly hope to be back to stay again soon.

The Philipburn Hotel is the perfect place for a relaxing stay. The Hotel has obviously been refurbished to a very high standard and everything is spic and span. The Staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was a problem. The food was excellent and well presented.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have pleasant country views and noise is not a problem. The only minor problem cou...

We stayed here for two nights having returned from a hectic break in Rome. We were looking to relax and this place provided us with the comfort we required. The staff members were welcoming and friendly and we were shown to our room on the 2nd floor with the offer of assistance with our luggage. Our room was nicely decorated, the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was lovely and both the room and bathroom were warm and spotless. We had dinner included in our deal for the first night and were extremely pleased with the quality of the food. So much so we decided to eat there on our second night too! We enjoyed our wine on both nights which was reasonably priced. Our breakfast on both mornings was substantial and very tasty. The hotel is on the outskirts of Selkirk and it takes about 15 mins to walk into the quiet town. All in all a very relaxing stay and I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Just returned home after a two night stay at this lovely hotel. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our very nice room, which was immaculate and contained everything you could need. The food was very tasty and the service both in the restaurant and generally throughout our stay was excellent. All of the staff were friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel.

Stayed here for a night whilst working at the Melrose Sevens, previous years have seen us at various hotels in the area and I have found this to be the best by a bit.
My room was spacious, comfortable and immaculate, staff were extremely courteous and seemed genuinly fdriendly without being in any way stuffy.
Evening meal and breakfast both a credit to the kitchen.
I hope we get booked in here again next year.

Treated my husband to a special birthday with this overnight stay and we were very impressed on arriving at the hotel which was set in lovely grounds. We received a warm welcome and shown to our room (number 5) which was on the top floor of the hotel, facing out towards the car park and fish pond. The room was very comfortable and warm and had a lovely bathroom. Our food at dinner and breakfast was very good and all staff were helpful and friendly. The free wifi in the room was a bit of a hit or a miss but was fine in other areas of the hotel. I did feel that the prices at the bar were a bit expensive compared to other hotels we have stayed at recently, however, we greatly enjoyed our stay here and the service we received.
