We visited on an sunny early autumn day and enjoyed some lovely ambling on the tree lined paths around this small(ish) gorge. A good cup of coffee and a nice piece of cake in the cafe after our walk was an added bonus!

colours of trees were just beginning to change to autumn colours. Very friendly lady on reception desk. Café has very good range of home baked products - the cheese scones are legendary! Gardens are so very lovely any time of year. Well worth a visit

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon. The awe inspiring huge trees against blue sky and autumn colours. A substantial walk with magnificent views, interesting, educational and enjoyable. Great cake and coffee and one of the best collections of cards and gifts that I have seen.

By chance, spotted this place on a route planner, never even knew it was there. As it was almost on our way back from Scotland we thought we'd give it a try. Are we glad we did. It's on the A701 from Scotland to Moffat and dead easy to find. Entry fee very reasonable, ,excellent café and toilet facilities, (spotless and free). This is technically an arboretum, on the side of a hill, so there are some steep climbs, but nothing unmanageable. (There is limited access for wheelchair users, but still plenty so see.) It's only open in late Spring through to mid autumn, so you have to be selective when you visit. Highly recommended for a good day out!

We've been holidaying in Broughton for four years in a row, and still haven't got past the shop and wonderful café/restaurant. The view is stunning and the food amazing, and great value for money. We have four days left to do the walk, if it warms up. I do wholeheartedly recommend a visit because it is so beautiful.
