First the positives. Staff were all excellent and nothing was too much bother for them. Anything we asked for was provided, except for re-location to a double room instead of a twin because there were no superior double rooms available and we didn't want to move down in size.
Restaurant food was very good. Well cooked, well presented and served with a smile. Menu is normally changed daily but, as we were the only resident diners on the first day of our stay, the chef decided to have the same menu for the next day too. This was not a problem as we could have something different for each course on both days. Only minor quibble was that the venison casserole contained apricots and prunes and was therefore a bit sweet for our taste. Good choice of cold and hot options at breakfast and kitchen staff were prepared to serve things which weren't even on the menu, if asked.
The room was 'superior' which others found related to the size rather than the quality. Furniture needs replacing. One chair had a ripped seat. Bath panel had started to warp with dampness. Shower was barely adequate. Black mould had appeared on the tile grout. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable. Lovely view from the window over the garden to the hills beyond.
Lift only goes to first floor so ask for a room on first floor if you have mobility problems. There is plenty of car parking space. Location is on the main road and is therefore ideal for shops and access to Peebles Hydro, a sister hotel with all the facilities.
I understand the hotel is about to change hands and I hope the new owners will upgrade the interior. Staff will hopefully be retained as they are one of the greatest assets of this hotel.
A most enjoyable two-day break despite the tiredness of the room.

Room Tip: Rooms to the south have the best views. Superior rooms have a seating area but are not superior in quality.

Very comfortable hotel adjacent to the town of Peebles and therefore within walking distance of the whole town. The hotel was warm at all times and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The breakfast was as much as you would have wanted, and the standard of dinner was truly incredible in quality and quantity. Overall an exceedingly enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend a visit to this hotel as it is more personal and comfortable that its bigger sister the Peebles Hydro which in its own way was enjoyable on an earlier visit.

The Park Hotel is a smaller sister of the much larger Peebles Hydro. It has a location near the town centre, post office and shops. The leisure facilities of The Hydro are available to the residents of The Park Hotel.

The hotel is warm, comfortable and the public areas are well furnished and clean. There is varied adequate menu and food is well cooked and presented. Our room was very adequate, comfortable and well furnished.

The hotel lift does not serve all the rooms on the secomd floor.

Altogether an enjoyable stay. Peebles is only 18 miles from Edinburgh and an easy 45 minute drive

Room Tip: Rear facing rooms have a fine scenic view

I cannot praise this hotel enough. From our initial phone enquiry, to our departure, we were treated by all the staff with friendly, but efficient charm. Our room was extremely quiet, large with a wonderful view over the garden to the hills, and was very comfortable, and although the bathroom was a little tired it was clean and had a wonderful shower with plentiful hot water. We stayed half board and breakfast and dinner were excellent during our 3 night stay. the hotel promotes itself as dog friendly and unlike many hotels this proved to be very true; our spaniel Bramble was allowed in the bar and lounge as well as our bedroom, and there is a small fenced off area in the grounds with a dog bin.. a brilliant idea.
Free wifi, and our room had plentiful tea coffee, bottled water and toiletries...

When I checked in I was told that my room would be ready shortly but it was actually ready after 45 minutes which was disappointing. Apart from that the hotel was excellent. It was very comfy, the food was excellent, the service efficient and the price of the half board package very reasonable. Lovely gardens and the rabbits are really cute!
