I really enjoyed this hotel situated on the edge of Peebles. The location is ideal being only a couple of minutes walk from the High Street.
The rooms were clean and well equipped, the bed I had was very comfortable. We had a five course dinner at the hotel and it was excellent with a good and varied menu. Breakfast was equally as good, again a good choice was provided.
The staff were excellent, friendly and willing to go that little bit extra.
I liked this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Park, last August (2012), during the incredible wedding celebration of our son and his beautiful Scottish bride, which took place at close-by Kailzie Gardens. The hotel choice, made by the bride's mum (a native of the Scottish Borders), couldn't have been more perfect! It was a totally charming - a typically Scottish setting, with rich wood décor, a lovely sitting room, where tea is served, overlooking idyllic gardens.
As Americans, we were wary, because this hotel did not have air-conditioned rooms, as we were there in August, but we learned that Scotland, even in the dead of summer, can be deliciously cool and breezy and we remained comfortable. The décor was dated, the stairs creaked and we had to climb up to our room on the third floor (the elevator only goes to the 2nd floor), but it all seemed "right' somehow and we loved it!
The full Scottish breakfast, each morning, was absolutely yummy and plentiful, especially getting to have a side of haggis with our eggs (it's delish...really)! And the pub and restaurant served up lovely dishes, in a warm, cozy, inviting Scottish atmosphere, while sipping a wee dram of a haunting single malt scotch!
The only downside I would mention was the price, which was a bit high, but truly for us, on this occasion, it was worth every pound!!
I would heartily recommend this lovely hotel, which is only a 1 hour bus ride from Edinburgh and which delivers a true "taste of Scotland"!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are quite small, especially those in the "wings" of the hotel. Discuss...

For a good pub lunch, this place is great. Staff welcoming and accomodating, and will happily check with chef what they can and cannot fdo if you have food allergies. We did not book and just walked in, and it was busy, however they managed to squeeze us in, and we didnt have to wait long for our food. Soup nice and hot and fish and chips well cooked. Not to expensive either so perfect for lunch after a walk along by the river.

My family and I stayed for one night between Christmas and New Year whilst visiting relatives.
the hotel was warm and comfortable but the approachable and professional manner of the staff made this hotel stand out. The staff members on reception and at breakfast could not have been more helpful, accomodating and went out of their way to ensure we were cared for and wanted for nothing....Well done and thank you; you seem to have mastered the art of customer service.

We called and booked a few weeks ago for Christmas lunch, and I was impressed then at the ease. So many places ask for deposits and menu choices, which, when you are booking for a group of people who aren't regularly in contact, is a real hassle.

When we arrived, we were delighted to find we had been given our own private function room! There was a funeral due in later that day, and the Hotel thought it best to keep the two parties separate - which, of course, was best.

The table was decorated with crackers and the menu choice was full, interesting and Christmassy. The service was absolutely excellent - and we did feel special!

I had haggis in a drambuie sauce with a poached egg on top, which was absolutely delicious. The haggis was spicy and a perfect texture and the egg was cooked to perfection. The sauce was a delicious addition.

My main course of pork with a gin sauce (well! It IS Christmas!) was warm and beautifully delicious.

My dessert was apple crumble cheesecake - which I have never seen on a menu before. Absolutely divine - although the other ladies' meringues looked amazing too!

All the staff were polite, attentive and very helpful as well as friendly.

The decor of the hotel is fine... nothing offensive, but it would be nice to see a refurb soon... with staff and food like this, The Park deserves it.

We'll be back!

Just had 3 night stay in Park Hotel, the staff were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. The menu changed every night which was great and top marks for a varied and lovely choice of vegetarian food. We ate in the hotel for the 3 nights, the food was of a high standard and the service was perfect. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Would definately go back.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back which was great, our friends had room at front which wasn't quite so q...

Having just returned from a three night break at the Park Hotel, I had to write to express my thanks to the staff at the Park Hotel, especially Val on Reception, who made us feel so welcome. This is our first visit to this hotel although we have stayed at the Cally Palace Hotel which is also a McMillan Hotel. The food was delicious and the choice extensive both at breakfast and dinner. Our rooms were large, clean with lovely fluffy towels which were changed daily. Having visited the Hydro one afternoon, I was thankful that we had chosen the Park Hotel over the Hydro especially as we could use the facilities of the larger hotel at any time. I am looking forward to our next break in Peebles so that we can see more of this delightful town and its surroundings. Finally Mr McMillan should be proud of his staff since they go the extra mile to please their guests.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter.
