We stayed three nights at the hotel. Enjoyed dinner on two of our evenings there. The staff was tentative and charming. Had my first Pimm's, delicious.

We stayed in the Peebles room. The toilet and closet were separate and downstairs, sort of a dressing area. Looks as if the rooms were recently updated, very nice. Peaceful evenings, no street noise ... very tranquil after a day of sightseeing.

...then go to Cringletie House.
We decided to spend a night away for our wedding anniversary and chose Cringletie House because of its proximity to Moffat where we live and also because we'd stayed before.
The building is set in beautiful and tranquil countryside and is a perfect place to get away from all the hustle and bustle.
Rooms are luxurious, bathrooms too.
We dined in the restaurant and our meal was first class - thanks to Patrick's culinary skills. We enjoy cooking so it's a real treat to be offered food we simply could not replicate!
All the staff are attentive and courteous and are there to make you feel special.
We have no hesitation in recommending Cringletie House - thank you.

Room Tip: We stayed in Glentress which was spacious and comfortable

The gently rolling countryside of The Borders was a great choice for a last night close to Edinburgh before travelling home. Cringletie House is an imposing country house (4*) hotel which can even be called a castle. Expect nothing other than perfect but discreet service which makes you feel like the lord of the manor. The restaurant offers culinary delights which positively explode with ingenuity and intense flavours.

Room Tip: Selkirk apparently has a Jacuzzi.

My husband arranged an overnight stay with a late checkout as a Birthday present for me. We traveled over 200 miles to get there but it was worth every second of the journey. A small but beautiful castle hotel (12 rooms) with outstanding service from all members of staff. We received a very warm welcome and a table was set in the library for a champagne afternoon tea. This was the most wonderful experience ever. Only the freshest ingredients were used in the most imaginative and tasty way. Delicious fingers sandwiches, the freshest scones with clotted cream and jam, mini muffins, small tarts with the freshest seasonal fruits, macaroons and so much more. The range of tea almost matches the selection of whisky. There is a bell to ring to attract the attention of the staff if there is nobody around and you need something.

We stayed in the Peebles Suite which we were taken to straight away and then shown the other public rooms. The suite was lovely. Everything you would expect and more with a decanter of whisky in addition to the tea and coffee tray and the delightful tin of small biscuits made on the premises. The bathroom was huge, traditional and beautiful. The attention to detail was incredible. The grounds are wonderful and provide some lovely walks and there is a really nice play area for children and garden chess for parents.

Dinner was sumptuous the service wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. We had breakfast in our room the following morning and room service is of an equally high standard. Breakfast is delicious and is very generous in portion size. I heartily recommend a stay at this hotel whether travelling on your own, as a couple, a family or a group of friends. Everyone is made to feel so welcome you really won't want to leave.

Room Tip: You can't fail to get a lovely room but obviously the suites are larger.

Beautiful quiet location with pretty views from the rooms and also lovely "touches " in the rooms like Molton Brown etc. Close to Peebles and Edinburgh. Restaurant to die for (will do separate review but worth the stay for that alone)

We have just returned home from one night at this hotel. We booked DBB and joined friends who were also staying there. I loved it! From the moment we arrived I just wanted to soak in this beautiful building and grounds. We had the Glentress room which was a good size with a turret seating area. On arrival we enjoyed a glass of champagne in the cosy library. The grounds are well looked after were you can also enjoy a game of croquet or chess on a giant board. The staff were excellent. Our evening meal superb and a satisfying breakfast before we had to leave. We shall be back.
