“Lovely rooms with even better customer sercice”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

My husband and I stayed here for four nights on the way to Fort William. The room we stayed in wasn't massive but was perfectly laid out, plenty of room for all our normal and mtb clothes! The cooked breakfast was lovely and had good choice of cereals. Janice and her husband were extremely welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble for them, booking us a restaurant ect will definitely be back and highly recommend anyone to stay.

We were taking part in the annual car hill trial at Biggar and decided to stay at Peebles as it's a great town with good access to Edinburgh and lovely surrounding countryside: there's a bus on the main road just 100 yards away from the house, so you can hop on that and be in Edinburgh in a hour, with a good service back. Winston Farmhouse lived up to its reviews. Nice comfortable room: good size, with a nice shower (that's important!). The breakfast choice was very good for a B&B: fresh fruit, followed by the 'works' (bacon, sausage, egg etc.): well prepared. Jan was an excellent host, and clearly enjoys having guests. They made room for our car trailer: no problem. We'll definitely be back next year. This is what a B&B should be.

Amazing views all round. The owners have provided a beautiful and peaceful home from home. Everything is top quality. The breakfast was so tasty. I ate way more than I needed! I wish I could cook sausage and bacon so that it was both juicy and slightly crispy. Superb. The rating is well deserved. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend a visit.

My husband and I stayed in Ploughman's Rest, one of the self-catering cottages on the farm, as we were attending a wedding at the local Peebles Hydro Hotel. The cottage was very cosy, comfortable, fully equipped and spotlessly clean. Jan's husband George showed us all the newborn lambs on the farm, which was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to anyone wanting peace and quiet, yet still within easy travelling distance of many attractions.

Our visit to Peebles was to go biking at Glentress. We arrived on a very cold, wet & windy day. Jan (our hostess) instantly greeted us with a warm smile and allowed us to drop off our bags before heading back out. She pointed out the secure bike store for our return and gave us a guide around the house. Our room was lovely, so spacious and very comfortable. Massive bed! Great sleep and fab breakfast in the morning to set us up for another days biking. I would definately reccomend staying here. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room along with wine glasses & a bottle opener. There is also a hairdryer, iron & ironing board in the room along with an ipod dock. Free wifi too which was a great added bonus.
Its not in the heart of Peeble so if venturing out at night you'll need to get a taxi (£5) which Jan will gladly book for you.

Fabulous farmouse, in a beautiful and very convenient location. The owner is lovely and chatting without intruding, the accommodation luxurious and spacious and couldn't be in a better location on the Edinburgh Road. Plenty to do and see around and about too. Peebles is a lovely little town for a wander and Edinburgh less than an hour away.

Stayed here a good few years ago with a bunch of mates for mountain biking, I enjoyed it so much I rented a cottage for my family on a visit a few years later and have been back a few more years too.

So good points -
Accommodation is well sized, clean and modern. No complaints on beds, rooms or facilities in the cottage.
Covered parking is available and more importantly lockable bike storage
Bike cleaning facilities are provided

Other positives
BBQ is available if you wish
Childrens play area
Free Wifi
Glentress is a 15 min cycle away and Innerleithen is a short drive away
Peaceful location far enough away from road
Bus stop outside property entrance is a convenient way to get to Edinburgh

I'm really struggling to think of any negatives, the only one that comes to mind is that Peebles is a good 30min walk of less than 5mins by car but this adds to the appeal as it nice to get away from things on holiday.
