“Must eat!”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

You cannot order anything bad. Have the steak, or the fish, the soup, the coffee, everything is five star! The service is quite good, the staff is friendly, and it's on the doorstep of the Abbey so it's a great location as well.

“Stopped at Melrose - Bus Tour - Had to pick quick! Thumbs Up!”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

We were on a bus tour from Edinburgh to the Highlands, stopping at Melrose for our lunch break. We had to pick a place quick, and I was impressed with the outside appearance (all the flowers) so we went in and sat down. Service was quick. The atmosphere was very pleasant. It was quiet and we were able to relax after being cramped up on the bus. The food was good. The lady who took our order was friendly. It took a bit for the kitchen to prepare the food, but when it was brought to the table we were impressed with the presentation. Overall, I felt like we had picked a good place.

“Not exciting, but OK”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

We stopped off in Melrose for lunch, and Marmion's looked popular, so we gave it a shot. My other half opted for the venison casserole, which was OK but not too hot, and on the tough side, which we though odd, as it's something you can tenderise very easily by cooking longer. I chose the mushroom and goat's cheese pancakes, which were tasty, and hot, though rather overseasoned for my liking.
The desserts were quite acceptable.
Service was polite, and pleasant.
It served it's purpose, to fill a gap, but we wouldn't make a point of looking for it on future visits.
2 lunches and 2 soft drinks came to around £34

“Yum”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Lovely menu, delicious food friendly service. I was heard for lunch on a cold and rainy day so I ordered soup which, when it came out tasted homemade! They have a nice selection of wines , coffee drinks and teas as well.
