Dunfermline House is one of the very few places I confidently recommend to people. I've been staying once a year for a number of years now. I've never been disappointed, and am currently looking forward to my next visit. DH is perfectly located in my opinion, the centre of Melrose is just a couple of minutes walk away. The breakfast is wonderful!

Warm welcome upon arrival. Clean and cozy room with nice bathroom. Location is right in the middle of town so it was a short walk to many restaurants and to Melrose Abbey if you're looking for historical sites. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, plentiful and friendly. Good value for the money.

I'm not one to traditionally enjoy the unique hospitality of British institution of the B&B, preferring the "blandness" and anonymity of cheap chain hotels.

Dunfermline House has changed that perception. The directions provided by Alison the proprietor were excellent and as I was able to secure a parking spot right outside. The room I stayed in was beautifully furnished, clean, warm and welcoming. The bathroom was clean, a good size the shower one of the best if not the best showers I've ever experienced in a B&B.
The bed was more comfortable that my one at home, just what you need after a cold days fishing but not catching fish in the famous River Tweed.

Breakfast was excellent with options of cereal, proper fruit salad and the usual full "slippery" cooked breakfast that was too much to resist. Its cooked on a healthy grill so ticks all the boxes for variety, taste as well as being good for you.

Situated just behind the main street in Melrose the local pubs and restaurants are pretty much less than a 3 minute walk, for the more adventurous you could walk over to Gattonside across the famous Chain Bride in around 10 minutes to have the choice of another 2 good restaurants.

Finding accommodation at short notice is always a hit and miss affair, Dunfermline House B&B is definitely a 100% hit, if you are ever in the Scottish Borders looking for accommodation look no further,

Room Tip: Speaking to other guests all of the rooms where of a high standard. All mentioned the beds as being...

A nice stay for our very first night in Scotland. Very welcoming and the breakfast was fantastic. A great little town as well if you like the Borders area. Was recommended by a couple of the local pubs as well.

My daughter and I had the privilege of staying in this B&B on a recent trip to the borders. On arriving we were given the choice of twin rooms and settled on one to the rear overlooking the Eildons.
The room was comfortable and spotless as was the bathroom. "Extras" including complimentary bottled water, cotton buds and paracetamol were better than those provided in a 5* establishment i had the misfortune of staying in two nights later !!
The breakfast was delicious and the choice plentiful.
Bryan and Alison thankyou for making us feel welcome in your home I only hope hope I can visit again soon!

Our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast on both mornings was very good. Location is perfect for visiting the Melrose Abbey and convenient for many other attractions in the area. Finding a very close parking spot on the street can be a challenge at times.

Room Tip: We had a large room, on the main street that was comfortable and quiet.
