I organised for my close family and friends to stay at Mosspaul for my 40th Birthday in March 2017. It was easy to book and make arrangements. The rooms available are very flexible for old or young, families, couples or individuals and dogs. The location is great at any time of the year. We found the facilities perfect for our needs. We used the self-catering kitchen to make meals for 20 and all sat down together in the dining room for food, cake and wine. We all watched the England Scotland rugby match with supporters and tears on both sides. The children enjoyed playing outside, the big screen and the pool table. The adults enjoyed the bar and cosy sitting room with the real fire.
The owners were very helpful with all our enquires and needs.
I have already strongly recommended this venue to others and I hope you have a perfect time as we did.
For my 21st this year, was looking for somewhere I could have 20+ of my friends for a really big weekend! Definitely picked the best place to have done that!
Eddie and Alison were really great in looking after us, with food catered for on the first night and help with stuff if we needed it. Absolutely loved this place and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a party house! Thank you Eddie & Alison for a really great time :)
We had a stag group of 19 stay at Mosspaul and it was absolutely fantastic. The bar area speaks for itself - fully furnished bar, pool table, dartboard and pub furniture in perfect condition and the adjoining room with the Table Tennis and 11ft screen also excellent additions (the cinema room and screen being the perfect venue for a six nations weekend!). There's also a wood burning stove in the living room which saw a lot of use.
Plenty of bedroom space and everything was clean and tidy and the kitchen had everything we needed. I'd also definitely recommend organising an Asda/Sainsbury's delivery to coincide with your arrival to make things easier.
The location is fantastic, very easy to find on the A7 and a great location for a party like ours with people coming from all corners of the UK.
Also massive thanks to Alison and Eddie who couldn't have been more helpful. They even dug out a few walking routes for us.
Cheers for a brilliant weekend!
This was my second visit to Mosspaul having previously come as a guest to a friends stag night here last year.
The main attraction is obviously the bar. Being able to essentially have a whole pub to yourself and your mates means that you don't have to wait to be served or have to worry about the sort of problems that the usual stag bar crawl can attract…… Being able to stock the bar yourself (although we did purchase the kegs through the owner) means that rounds cost something like £20 instead of the usual £60 plus for a group of this size and these savings alone probably covered the cost of hire. The pool table is also set to freeplay which was a great bonus!
Alison is great and despite the ‘liveliness’ of our group she was always very friendly and nothing was too much trouble (she even did an emergency cigarette run for us!).
The sleeping accommodation is basic but clean but you don't come for this. You come to Mosspaul for the social areas which are excellent value and a real novelty. Loved it Alison, thank you and will no doubt see you again next year!!
21 family members gathered for a long weekend in September. 9 adults and 12 children.
This accommodation could be amazing and could've been one that my family visited yearly. But the cleanliness and condition of the property was well below acceptable standards. If we'd had an option (somewhere else to go)
The bedrooms were clean as was the bed linen. The bathrooms were OK, although a few had broken tiles and the downstairs family room and bathroom were badly affected with black mould.
The kitchen and dishwashing room were the worst affected, the floors and walls and equipment were dirty and there was black mould in many areas.
We hadn't been informed of any holes in ceilings so this was a shock to find the ceiling missing in the reading room.
The roof started leaking on the stairs during our stay which the owner admitted she knew about.
We will not visit again and would recommend others to visit before booking to ensure that the condition of the property has been improved.
Belated review as we stayed here end of October for a Halloween weekend. There were 12 adults and 6 children and there was plenty of roomph for us all. The in is fantastic with a large lounge, bar area and separate cinema room along with a well stocked kitchenot area. We had a ball all weekendal with the adults playang in the bar while the children played in the cinema room or the grounds. We did some walking which was great to blow off the cob webbs. We also made use of the outdoor hot tub which was good fun to set up and then party in. It's a great place this in the middle of nowhere but with so much to do. The hosts are fantastic- highly recommended:-)
We stayed at Mosspaul recently with children - it's a great place for all ages! Long walks in nearby hills were followed by games of pool, movies on the big screen, car racing on the wii, good food and drink! We slept well and felt at home throughout our stay! We thoroughly recommend Mosspaul as a venue.
