“Great centre for a golfing holiday.”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Thirteen of us from Lancashire went up to the Borders for three days of golf and based ourselves in the Elm House Hotel in the centre of Hawick.

As has been said elsewhere the rooms we were allocated were all a good size, well clean and comfy with pristine spotless bed linen.

The Redpaths were fine hosts and looked after our every whim. The hotel was in a quiet area and (best of all perhaps) you only had to travel directly across the road outside the back door to get to the local Wetherspoons where the liquid refreshment was varied and very cheap.

Very inexpensive but very good was our verdict.

IF the Borders was ever to be the venue for another golf trip, the Elm House would be a cert!!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Took the grandchildren age 4 and 8 and they loved it. Hotel is right in the centre of Hawick, huge rooms, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Hotel (and staff) all very child friendly and helpful. I have stayed before but not with the grandchildren. Very good value and as an overall experience is better then most of the big chain hotels. I recommend it.

Room Tip: Family and double rooms on 1st floor are excellent. Large, comfortable and v quiet.

Really loved this place. The family were lovely, friendly and really helpful. The rooms are great for our purpose and had a comfy bed. The price was great too! Large fulling breakfast available also. Would have loved to stay longer and would definately stay here again if I came back and recommend to anybody!

Hotel basic but excellent value. Room was in main hotel and very quiet. All very clean and warm. Friendly, helpful owners. We found a good and safe place fo car and trailer and vintage motorcycles in the hotel car park.

Stayed on a recent business trip, in the annexe part of the hotel, literally after a long drive from Glasgow and finding this gem.

Owner was very welcoming, charging a very reasonable rate for 2 rooms, which were well equiped - maybe a little dated but EXCELLENT VALUE.

Location is excellent for the business traveller with a Wetherspoons right across the road (a nice clean well presented one at that) and an all you can eat buffet curry house the other side.

Also own parking and an excellent breakfast, only negative would be rooms are a bit dated but for the money, its oustanding value.

Hotel basic but excellent value. Room was across car-park from main hotel but this suited us better than staying in the main hotel. All very clean and warm. Friendly, helpful owners. Although it was just my wife and I who stayed on this occasion, we were pleased to see that breakfast in the dining room was very child friendly. We plan to go back with our grandchildren when we can. We'd stayed in 4 star Hilton Coylumbridge resort earlier the same week but this matched it for comfort and exceeded it for service and breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking Bourtree (Road?) can get a bit noisy during the night with the windows open. Not a...
