“Beautiful place”
Reviewed November 3, 2013 via mobile

We only stayed there one night but its a beautiful place, very quiet and away from everything. Nice decorated room with big bathroom. The breakfast was very good with great views of the countryside. The wifi was a bit slow though.

We've just had a couple of nights at the Coppice, and it's a beautiful place. Well off the beaten track - if you want peace and quiet this is the place to be! Jill was really helpful with local information, and helped us find out what we wanted to from our trip. It sounds like she has had a busy first season with the B&B and we wish her well with it.
The rooms are clean and very well appointed. Wifi signal was great, 'phone signal not so good, so be prepared for that.
The Coppice is about 5 miles out of Hawick, amongst wonderful scenery.

The Coppice is a beautiful B & B nestled in the scenic Scottish countryside. Reservations can be made with credit cards but payment is done with cash. Gillian and her partner provided us with a beautiful room, a perfect breakfast with a picturesque pastoral view. Their hospitality and kindness went beyond any expectations, helping us with some early tourist trip growing pains. We had no sat-nav / GPS to get to The Coppice, but we simply turned off of the A7 route onto the B711 at the covered bridge that's a little west of Hawick, 4 miles, staying on the B711, took us right up to The Coppice driveway on our right. We saw a small blue sign there, some white stones lining the drive entrance, and an antique next to the B711 out in front of their stone wall. The assistance of our hosts created the first truly relaxed enjoyable day since our arrival in Scotland, and we were very grateful for their kindness :-)

Room Tip: The room we were assigned couldn't have been more beautiful or more comfortable. It appeared th...

We stayed at the Coppice for one night while attending a wedding in Hawick. The location was a little way out of town but worth the drive. The house is set in beautiful countryside, a perfect location for walking. We plan to return one day to take advantage of this. Our room was an ensuite double which was beautifully decorated with modern bathroom and comfy bed. Gill and John were perfect hosts and eager to ensure our stay went as smoothly as possible since we has a long journey and needed to change to attend the wedding. Great breakfast which set us up for our journey home. We would strongly recommend this accommodation.

Room Tip: The double is nice and spacious

Gill and John run this lovely B and B. We stayed Sat and Sunday night to watch the 1st day of the Tour of Britain come through Hawick. Gill was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs, she recommended a great place to eat on the Sunday night and booked it for us. Breakfast was freshly cooked on the Aga and served in the bright conservatory with views far reaching. The Coppice itself is in an idyllic setting off the beaten track and but so easy to get to the main towns of Hawick, Jedburgh and beyond. Our room was the suite, which was nice and spacious with all you need for a few days break. Well decorated and clean if you are looking for a nice relaxed break in a wonderful location this is the perfect place to stay.

Gill and John were the perfect hosts, warm and welcoming and settling us into the studio for our honeymoon break after our civil partnership. The room is spacious, tastefully decorated to create the perfect relaxing space to come back to. The en-suit bathroom is stylish and sleek and with the double shower there is everything you need to freshen up. The whole house is beautiful and stylish making you feel your in something special but keeping that homely, welcoming, warm feeling. Breakfast is set at the table next to the kitchen which creates good conversation and atmosphere between guests and the owners. Gill arranged breakfast for when suited us best fitting us in with or around other guests. The breakfast itself is one of the best iv ever had and more than sets you up for the day ahead. The knowledge Gill and John have of the surrounding area is amazing and following the perfect directions we had perfect days out. Afternoon tea, historical Abby's, local towns and relaxing, romantic walks all making magical memories of this place for us. Gill also found and printed time tables for us to travel to Edinburg for the day. As it was a 2 hour trip she found the best times, highlighted them for us to go on our way and to return safe and sound. This place is perfect to have as a base and go off to explore or to stay relax and enjoy each others company and take in the outstanding countryside. This may be a BnB but the only thing it's missing is a swimming pool and a helipad it is the perfect choice for any couple needing space to relax, reconnect and forget about everyday life. I can NOT wait for our first anniversary to come back, I cannot give The Coppice enough praise! The most romantic,
relaxing, beautiful place!!!

Thank you for such encouraging comments. You were the first honeymoon couple to stay here and it looks like you enjoyed it. We are trying to encourage people to stay here as it is, as you say a perfect hideaway and the studio in particular is set apart from the rest of the house so you enjoy the ultimate in privacy. It is also great fun decorating the room with all the things that make a stay here memorable. I have reserved your anniversary week-end for 2014!!

Me and my girlfriend went here as a base for me to go to an interview as well as have a mini break. The couple who run the B&B are lovely, breakfast was great every morning with a wide selection on offer. Their knowledge of the surroundings meant we were able to go and have a beautiful walk around St Marys Loch and then they booked a table for us at a local restaurant that evening. After Gill had found out I was their for an interview she was interested and asked how I got on. Lovely kind caring people.
This is a must for a visit if you are passing through or around for a holiday, we cant wait to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the studio apartment, and it was spectacular, only thing that was missing was a bath.
