Great place for lunch, particularly recommend the home made scones, cakes etc. They also do great toasted sandwiches with great chips!

... if this is really the 3rd best restaurant in this town (according to the current Trip Advisor ratings). I note that the 2nd place restaurant is not open on a weekday evening and the 1st place restaurant was actually in the next village along, 5 miles away, so this was apparently the best restaurant available to us tonight.
We were looking at trip advisor in the weatherspoons down the road, deciding where to eat, and noticed the excellent reviews for Sonia's so decided to give it a try (despite having previously walked past and been put off by the shabby menu outside the front of the building). This was a mistake - we'd have had a much better meal if we'd stayed in the weatherspoons and had dinner there.
The soup was bland and could have been from a can. The bread that accompanied it was stale and dry. My vegetable risotto was just bizarre - it contained mainly peas (fairly standard, although they seemed to be peas from a can...) and sweetcorn, with a few bits of celery thrown in. There was a lot of it, so can't complain about the portion sizes! My boyfriend had a 'supreme chicken bolognese bistro' - the name is as ridiculous as the price - nearly £14 for a piece of battered chicken, oven chips, and some salad (old browning lettuce, red onion and tomato). The only reason I haven't rated the food terrible is that we both finished our meals - we don't like to waste food, especially if we're paying for it, and the food wasn't awful enough for us to leave it, but it was close.
The only postive thing about this place is that the waiter who served us was very good. He was very friendly and helpful (though it would have been more helpful if he'd told us to leave and eat somewhere else!)

I met a friend here for coffee and it was so lovely we ended up staying for lunch! the menu is varied and our food was cooked to order. the view over the river was nice and the prices were very reasonable. We will certainly return - with more friends. Staff were friendly and the surroundings were fresh and clean.

We stopped for a coffee and a scone. The café was clean and the staff friendly and it was a nice scone. We sat at the window and watched the fish jumping in the river. A very relaxing break.
The only negative was that the waitress split coffee in the saucer and went back and placed a napkin in the saucer, she could have replaced the saucer or at least removed the sodden napkin.
