This is the first time I have written any review but feel that more people should be aware of this gem of a guest house. Having travelled over 300 miles we were welcomed with tea/coffee and biscuits in front of a log fire from our most attentive hosts, Derek and Linda. The rooms are spectacular, large and with soft furnishings and decor of the highest standard. The whole house has been very tastfully furnished and decorated and should not be missed on any stay in Southern Scotland. The breakfast menu was of exceptional quality including many original and traditional offerings, served in a style that can only want you to return again and again. The art of a good host is to "make you feel at home when you are not", on this occasion we definitely felt at home. It goes without saying that we will be returning in the future.

Stayed here a over a year ago now but definitely would recommend the Maplehurst and am indeed sending this recommendation to a colleague who I think will enjoy the venue, hospitality and...breakfast! The hotel location is fantastic for the borders and the quality of service is unparalleled in my view. A real treat!

I stayed one snowy night in January at this beautiful guest house in the Scottish Borders on business nearby. I do not normally write reviews although over the years, I have travelled extensively and stayed at some of the supposed best hotels around the world, but felt inclined to put a few words down for others about the quality of this wonderful Arts and Crafts gem in Galashiels. This is quite simply one of the most beautiful period houses that I have ever seen. The interiors are exquisite and romantic whilst the guestrooms are spotless, tasteful and offer every comfort you could wish for. The hosts are gracious and the breakfasts are generous and of a very high quality. All I can advise is to stay there if you are in the area or a detour if you are not, you will not be disappointed and enjoy this fabulous house.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good

We arrived on the first day of snow after a long tiresome drive. Linda and Derek were there with a welcome pot of coffee and a log fire in full swing. The bedrooms were beautiful, breakfast was cooked to perfection. They gave us lots of information for eating out and getting around. The house is a treasure pot of fabulous furniture and accesories bliss to stay in. We felt right at home and will definately be back.

Room Tip: All rooms individual and any would give you a perfect sleep

As soon as we arrived for our three night stay at Maplehurst Linda asked us if we would like some tea or coffee and then gave us shortbread and hot toasted fruit bread as well. Our room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, you must try Derek's fruit compots and Linda's Maplehurst sausages mmmmm. Only one regret, they don't do evening meals, we would have eaten there every night. Before retiring you are welcome to help yourself to a wee dram but there are also hot drink facilities in your room. Maplehurst is so interesting with many stained glass windows and Linda and Derek have lovingly furnished it with many beautiful items. We could go on and on but better still go there yourself; you wont be disappointed.

Stayed for one night in this exquisite B & B as we were given a gift voucher as a wedding present. Not having stayed at a B & B before, usually favouring hotels, we didn't quite know what to expect. We couldn't have been more delighted with Maplehurst which was far superior to many of the hotels we have stayed in. The house is very special, historically interesting (much of the house remains as it was when built in 1906) and beautiful, spotlessly clean, decorated and furnished to very high standards and the ambience is wonderful - comfortable sofas, lots of soft lighting, log fires and even a complimentary dram in the snug/library on the first floor. We stayed in the Mackintosh room which was light, and airy with a comfortable bed, great views over the gardens, walk in shower in the lovely bathroom with underfloor heating and very, very nice organic toiletries by Purdies of Argyll. Breakfast was made to order, beautifully presented and tasted fabulous. Derek was the perfect host (we didn't get to meet LInda as she was away) and made it all seem effortless. If you are in the Borders and looking for the perfect place to stay - look no further than Maplehurst - I assure you you will NOT be disappointed!

Room Tip: Mackintosh room is light and airy with lovely views over the gardens
