i stayed in this boutique bed and breakfast yesterday. If you love the arts and craft movement then its like stepping to this period in time. Bed rooms have a high standard of cleanliness and beauty, with original feature through out the public area. Beds are comfortable with the rooms i saw had a little seating area. There are a number of 'lounge ' areas throw out the house to read or sit and have company if wanted. The house owners are attentive and do a really up market breakfast - not the usual run of the mill breakfasts the quality of the black pudding was superb and the compotes on offer where home made and they were really tasty. Although i was only able to stay for a night i would recommend and would go back when i'min the boarders again. initially the rooms where full but the owners did phone back when a room became available which i thought was brilliant

Room Tip: we choose the mackintosh room which had a lovely view of the garden

This is by far the best B&B in the world !!!! Linda & Derek have crated a gem of a place. I would highly recommend this for any person coming to the Borders must stay here. It is also worth taking time out and taking someone special away for a weekend break.

Room Tip: Any off the 1st floor rooms.

This is a house that is a home. I have never been in a house like this, whether hotel or B&B this is like living in a time warp with mod cons. Linda and Derek are a cross between your hosts and your family, cups of tea, home baking and the best breakfast in the world make you feel special, comforted and in the height of luxury. This is my secret place, many stay here but I always feel special here. Stay if you love history, art, music, good food and friendly hosts. I'll be back soon, looking forward to an open fire and Linda's breakfast!

Room Tip: The 3 rooms are gorgeous - try each one on 3 stays

I stay at the Maplehurst at least once per month. I travel a lot with work, especially to the Borders, and having stayed at all of the other Guest Houses and the 1 Hotel in the area I can confidently say that you will struggle to find a more welcoming, comfortable and beautiful guest house anywhere in the UK let alone Galashiels. The house itself is absolutely stunning, the owners friendly and the breakfast is something to behold. Whilst I continue to travel to the Borders area I can't see myself staying anywhere else.

I can't fault Derek and Linda for their attentive care of me and all the other guests. I visited twice in May / June and they were excellent.

Breakfast was excellent, rooms are comfortable and well appointed.

Beautiful house with a friendly and accomodating couple Derek and Linda. They couldn't do enough for us. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night as we were on our way back home from Aberdeen. The breakfast was fabulous and there was so much to choose from. Linda kindly booked us into Burts Hotel for fine dining on the evening of our arrival which was a short taxi drive away. That was also wonderful. What a treat to stay at Maplehurst and at such a reasonable tarif.

Linda and Derek are the perfect hosts. They go the "extra mile" to ensure the needs of their guests are met. The property is full of character and the breakfasts are "simply the best"

Would recommend this to anyone visiting the Borders on either business or on holiday

I'm very much looking forward to my next visit
