I really loved this hotel. From the moment we arrived, Cathryn made us very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and I was always met with a smile.

The location was great, relaxing and tranquil with arguably better seafood than in Oban itself.
It was utterly relaxing sitting with glass of wine in hand looking out towards the marina.

The room itself (room 1) was spotless and all facilities you would want. Good quality furniture, flat screen tv and lovely comfortable bed. The bathroom was immaculate.

Breakfast was first rate and Cathryn even catered to my individual breakfast request with no hesitation of fuss.

I felt extremely welcomed and looked after.

The hotel location is great, a short trip into Oban and lovely to return to.

I look forward to my next trip to the Wide Mouthed Frog! Thank you Cathryn and your excellent team. A great business through and through.

Room Tip: There are some separate chalet style rooms with their own balcony which I was looking at enviously a...

When travelling on the Hebrides ferries, we've stopped overnight in some dreadful smelly dated dusty old rooms in Oban's town centre hotels. The Frog for us is now a clean alternative.
For a quiet lie down after a good fish supper, the Frog has always given us a good sleep before our journey ctd. southwards.
Staff have always been friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Marina view gives an open vista if you need it

Great location, good accommodation, but badly let down by poor quality of customer service, from the two managers who seemed to lack any experience of the hospitality industry. Lack of ambience,in bar area which was poorly stocked and offered little choice. Surly chef who refused on two occasions at breakfast to cook an omelette! Breakfast seating area had food remains on the floor and uncleared tables despite being quiet. Breakfast was poor, and lacked effort and imagination. No effort to make their customers feel welcomed and looked after. Could be a great business if managed by the right people.

Travelling home from the north of Scotland, this was meant to be a special stop over. At nearly£100 for B and B this place is not cheap. We read the reviews and were much encouraged. I had asked for a room with a nice view and our thanks to the hotel for giving us a room with a spectacular view over the boats in the marina and the Islands beyond.
The room was well furnished and had some quality to it. this was spoiled in the morning when the shower tray filled with horrible looking water when the drain did not work. It was a simple job for someone to clean it. Its strange how you remember that rather than the general high quality of the room. By the way the access to the room was up some very narrow stairs. You need to be able to carry your luggage up.
The evening meal was good and staff were professional.
Breakfast was not good. the fruit consisted of a choice of tinned grapefruit, tinned mandarins or tinned prunes. There were small packets of cereal. At £100, very disappointing. Toast was delivered as we sat down. By the time we came to want to eat it was cold. I saw the waiter making coffee in a pot from a large tin of nescafe! I challenged this and pointed to the Italian coffee machine just behind him. Why not a proper coffee from there. "Because its easier and quicker to make nescafe." I said that I would prefer a real cup. Which he said was OK but he would have to charge me for it.! Disappointing.
The cooked breakfast arrived and was OK, but a bit greasy.
So very disappointing. This place could and should be first class. It was just pretending on our visit.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the marina are best.

We had left Oban after a hectic day of sightseeing and were in much need of a break and spotted this interesting looking place and turned round to take a much needed break.

Boy am I glad we did as this Hotel also has a restaurant and is situated right on Dunstaffnage Marina and has a more than great outlook from the restaurant terrace.

We had a friendly greeting from the owner Chris Wileman and it was clear that nothing however large are small was to much trouble.

We actually only wanted a coffee and that was provided from a machine that even Starbucks would be proud to use.

We had this on the terrace overlooking the Marina sitting with many yacht owners all of whom were also friendly. It was so nice and sunny that we stayed longer than planned for and had it been meal time we would definitely have eaten here.

It also looks like a nice place to stay overnight and break a journey up if that works well on ones trip.

We would make a point of stopping here if ever in this region again.

One final point is that the toilets were spotless.

Room Tip: As we did not stay unable to comment on rooms and sleep quality but if public areas anything to gop...
