Husband and I had an overnight stay here on 27th July. Paid £69 for bed and breakfast. Receptionist was friendly and informative.
We had a room on the 3rd floor, view was not so nice as there seemed to be demolishing work going on.
The hotel was very tired and is in urgent need of a make-over.
Windows were rotting and doors needed painting.
The shower cubicle was small and the water kept going from hot to cold.
The bed was creaky and the final straw was a dog barking in the next room for half an hour solid, not a nice way to be wakened on a lazy Sunday morning.
Breakfast was basic but I was rather insulted by the footnote on the menu saying "Don't worry if you are a vegetarian our chefs will do all that they can to accommodate any reasonable request"
Emmmmmmmm what exactly are we going to request? Oh yes a vegetarian breakfast would be nice?!?!
The Veggie breakfast consisted of fried bread (yuk) half a deep fried potato scone (never touched) half a tomato (which I ate) and some mushrooms which I never ate cause I like mine peeled. Also a fried egg, we were not given a choice of how we would like our eggs.
The toast was nice, the coffee was ok, although we nearly got by passed on the coffee cause when we sat down the girl walked away and the couple that came in 5 minutes after us got offered coffee as they were seated. It was just by chance one of the waitresses was walking past and she asked if we had ordered tea or coffee.
There was a choice of grapefruit and orange segments along with prunes at the cold section and a choice of 3 cereals. Also a few choices of juice (which we took advantage of!)
Overall, I doubt if we would return there although location wise it is good and from the outside the hotel looks nice.
what put us off more than anything was that dog that barked for half an hour non stop. Not good.
