Very good value for money. Room a bit on the small side. Lovely view from 5 th floor room. Only 1 lift so had to wait on some occasions. Very good choice for breakfast however the 9.30 time limit did not give us much of a much needed lie in after arriving after midnight the night before. All staff really friendly and helpful and most importantly clean throughout.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the building to command a nice view.

We had an excellent time at the this hotel celebrating Hogmanay with Strathmore Travel.

The staff were all pleasant and cared for the every need of the guests -especially those who needed assistance at meal times etc.

The meals -breakfast and dinner came from a good varied menu in rather large portions -alas at breakfast time the plates were usually cold.

There was good entertainment every night with a excellent Ceildh band and piper to on hogmanay evening. With a glass of champagne or whisky to bring in the New year and stovies and pies to follow.

Rooms were clean and tidy - most of them have now been refurbished.

It was the excellent attitude of the very friendly staff that shone out over our four days -our party has stated "That's where we are going for Hogmanay 2014".

The hotel is on the main street, near the harbour -all of which are on the level should you wish to take in the sea air or catch a ferry to one of the islands

Room Tip: The front facing upgrade rooms give you a view of the sea

Hi Mr Nicholson

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Tripadvisor.

I am glad you enjoyed the festivities over the New Year period, it was an enjoyable few days and was great fun for guests and staff.

I am glad that the staff met yours and my expectations and helped deliver a memorable experience for you and your party.

After speaking to Laura at Strathmore Travel, I understand that this years coaches are selling well as a result of last New Year, I hope that we will see your party return with them.

I look forward to seeing you back at the Royal soon

Kind Regards

Stopped here for a quick lunch during a day visit to Oban. Had spent half an hour looking round other places and decided this looked about the best both for the menu and price and state of the place.
Menu excellent, food delicious and value for money. Efficient service by friendly staff. Would def recommend and will call here for meal again if in Oban any time soon.

Once again for the 3rd year running our family group of 7 enjoyed the festivities over Hogmanay,

The rooms have been refurbished to an excellent standard, they are warm & comfortable.

The food was delicious and suited everyone in our group.

All the hotel & bar staff were friendly and couldn't be more helpful.

The 3 nights entertainment was fantastic.

We enjoyed our stay so much we booked again for next years break on our departure.

I found this hotel on Kayak and booked it via the hotel's website. This hotel is in a great location, right on Argyll Square in downtown Oban. Everything one could like to do is within easy walking distance. Oban Distillery, numerous pubs and eateries, the ferry terminal, local shops. The hotel room was spacious enough, with a great four-poster bed. Wifi was included, in case anyone needs to access the internet. The included breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of options. I had the traditional Scottish breakfast. There is also a pub and restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel, right off the reception area. There is off-street parking in a designated hotel parking lot. Unfortunately, I spent only one night at this hotel. Looking back now, I wish I could have had a whole extra day there, and in Oban.

I stayed here for one night on business. My room was on the third floor and unfortunately the lift wasn't working but I was phoned and warned of this in advance. The small but comfortable room was perfectly adequate for my purposes. The breakfast was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Amazing value for the price!

Lovely traditional hotel and not expensive . Very central for access to Ferry Terminal. Staff were pleasant and courteous and there was plenty to choose from the breakfast menu. We stayed in a triple room which was lovely but felt that the bathroom could do with a bit of an upgrade .
Nice experience though .
