We have stayed at this hotel several times, both as part of a coach party and as independent travellers. It is right on the seafront with excellent views from the lounge and bar. I had booked a seaview, twin room with a shower. I had explained when booking that I have limited mobility and find a shower-over-bath difficult to negotiate and was told that they would try do everything to meet my needs. I had also reserved a parking space and we were given one very close to the entrance. When we got to our room I was pleased to see that we had been upgraded to a "superior" room, however, it was a double room and the shower was over the bath with no grab rails to assist a disabled person. I went to the reception and explained the problem and the young lady said she would report it to her manager as soon as she came on duty. The manager duly arrived and said there was another room we could have which was twin with a grab rail but we would have to move straight away as they were expecting a coach party to arrive, apparently, there were no rooms with shower cubicles. The room we were given was a standard room and very tired looking and in real need of refurbishing (I understand this is an ongoing process). Reluctantly, we accepted this alternative room, but only because of the aids over the bath.
The dining room has recently been refurbished and looked inviting. A good choice of food was available, as expected from a Shearings establishment and our waiter, Toto, couldn't have been more friendly or efficient. By our second morning he knew our choice of breakfast, tea or coffee and toast preference. He couldn't have been more helpful!
Will probably use this hotel again as it is so convenient for the town, the ferry terminal and in a great position.
