Though I had read glowing reviews of Dungallan Country House, we were not greeted warmly be either Mike or Marion. We arrived at our destination and even though we had telephoned saying we would be there shortly (the road had been resurfaced and we couldn't find our way), no one greeted us upon our arrival and we had to call several times for our hosts. We were three women and only when we asked for help, did Mike offer to help us upstairs with our bags. We were told that breakfast would be at 8:30am. No ifs, ands or buts. We mentioned we had a ferry at 9:20 and would like to eat a bit earlier if possible.
We were told in no uncertain terms that 8:30 was plenty of time. When we asked very cordially if 8:15 am could be arranged we were told "No, 8:30am is sufficient.
At every other bed and breakfast, we were ASKED what time we would like breakfast.
Usually, at a b&b, the host is accommodating.
To be fair, the place was beautiful, the rooms lovely and the breakfast was delicious, but our encounter upon arrival and extreme rigidness left a bad taste in our mouths.More
