My husband and I realised a long cherished dream to visit the tiny island of Kerrera just off Oban. We walked to the spectacular windblown Gylen Castle in the South of the island. We were delighted that the tea garden was open as they served us the most fantastic lentil soup followed by scrumptious lemon drizzle cake. And then a sumptuous pot of coffee.
It is worth noting that the tea garden is closed Monday and Tuesday. And you really do need some sustenance as distances on the island (all on foot) are longer than they would first appear.
But all in all, a heartwarming and delicious experience at the Tea garden, which is managed by a very nice couple. You can eat either in the garden or in a little barn. All very comfortable.
